I saw the movie and was impressed by the battle scenes. Were the uniforms of both the Germans and British accurately portrayed?

I can assure you Dave that the horse's uniform was absolutely spot on.
For the soldiers I think they work on a close to the camera is most accurate, after that it doesnt seem to matter.

Thanks guys. I was curious about the feldgrau of the German's tunics. Seemed a bit blue to me in the movie.

I had a friend who was a re-enactor selected as a extra for the movie "last of the Mohicans. He said the uniforms supplied to him were so cheaply made they would fall apart after a days take. He was also in the patriot and got into the flap about Tavington's (Tarleton) bastardized uniform. All complaints by the re-enactor ( who worked for free) fell on deaf ears

Except that in the pictures I've seen, they used a "Pelham" bit rather than a "Universal Reversible Port Mouth Bit"

Reenactors and Hollywood don't go together, so it's hardly suprising your mate wasn't listened to.

As to your initial question...'.what do you think about the uniforms?' Accurate is not a word I'd ever use when it came to films, but it all depends on how far your interest and study level of a particular period is prepared to go. If it floats your boat then roll with it, if not then dig deeper.

Long live the historical nerd!

Cheers,
Jon.
