Hello folks, here's some color plates i got from a fellow from home.
This color plates shows the uniforms worn before, during and after Argentina's independence when it was called "Virreinato del Rio de La Plata",under Spanish rule.
Unfortunately , and in my humble opinion, there is no much of interst and or lack of market for figurines related to the south american armies ,Argentina,Chile,Bolivia,Peru ,Colombia and Venezuela.
I've seen few figures from some manufacturers and there is few in Argentina who display a variety of national historic uniforms.
It's just my wish to show you that they deserve to be mentioned and maybe will help anyone who is thinking of represent this uniforms through the wonderful world of miniatures.

Thanks Gordi,i will post the color plates references later on,i was hoping that it will show it next to the plate.
Best regards

The first two pics are from one of the frist regiments of the country:
the called them" Regimiento de Blandengues" , which now adays is a Armoured Regiment and kept the name blandengues
the last two pics shows one of the most recognizez regiments in Argentina, The grenadiers of San martin or Horse grenadiers.
This unit escort the president in all public appears and matters of state.

Very nice.Would like to learn more of your country, especially the conquest of the indians in the 1870's.Read a little about it in Wikipedia but can't find any books on it.

Indeed, these marvellous artwoks, - made by Argentinian artist Jose Luis Salinas, - on the La Plata campaigns, 1806-1807.
Yes, unfortunately there are no much figures on the armies of the America Latina. Nevertheles, there is a Russian modeller Stanislas Lyulin, which sculpting 30 mm figures on the theme. But, in general, it`s the Mexican Army, and armies from the "Guerra del Pacifico" (i.e., Pacific War), 1879-83 :

Best wishes.

Wonderful uniforms and seemingly shouting out to be done as conversions from existing kits. I agree that there are many wonderful subjects that have been neglected due to our Euro-American bias towards that which we know. The history of Europe and the Americas are intertwined and they have had such a strong influence on the colonization and eventual independance of the South American culture. Great to see those plates.

Jim,i have learned that is all about the "market's demand" ,and yes, sometimes i very little know about the military history and uniforms of latin american countries but hopefully we could contribute a little to be more know.
I will post more pics later.
Last year was the commemoration of the bicentennial of the Latin America's independence,it was nice to see the military parade with the "traditional uniforms".
Best regards

Here's a video of the parade.
The first group all in red ,dress in the traditional "gauchos de Guemes" ,Gaucho is the equivalent of "cowboys" int ehUS.
The second group is one of the oldest regiments in Argentina, and to me one of my favourites "The regiment of Blandengues",
and the third group is the Husares de Pueyrredon (hussards)
