Hi Everyone,

Once again, this one turned out a lot more complex than I had thought, but I am very pleased to have completed it now and to move it to the display cabinet. Hope you like the end result.
The sculpt and cast are excellent; I can very much recommend this figure. There have been some comments about the face, but actually, I like it a lot. It has very young looks, and not the extremely handsome teutonic/warrior look seen on many other German figures. Just a common young lad.
I also think the face looks like the actor Tom Schilling in the (impressive) German series about the 2nd world war "Unsere Muetter, unsere Vaeter" (Our mothers, our fathers).

All painting done in Vallejo acrylics.

I'm not sure which type background I like more so that's why I included two series of pictures.
By the way, I understand that H&V Miniatures has changed into FeR Miniatures, in case you want to get the figure.

Cheers,
Adrian

Adrian, what a superb work you've made! I really love it!
Really flawless, very real tones, excellent camouflage painting, and so on...
Now I want to paint this figure!
My congratulations!

Regards
Pedro

I know nothing about WW2 Germans.....but I do know quality work when I see it (y)
Great restraint in not over-weathering this beautifully painted uniform, as for the face, stunning work.
Cheers

Adrian, eye catching piece my friend. Truly inspirational.(y)

Cheers,
Pedro.

Hi Adrian,
as said a remarkable paintjob(y). Your way of painting the face led in my eyes to a far better result than it was acchieved by the boxart-painter. Still there is something about the facial features that makes him look like a caricature. - Yes there are ugly people and of course the looks of these "boy-soldiers" of Division "Hitlerjugend" were very young and nearly childish sometimes but the sculptor did not get that look IMHO.
Anyway that is a problem of the sculpt and you pulled off a very nice version of this figure.
Cheers, Martin

Super work Adrian,
You were very lucky that the camouflage pattern was so straight forward to paint.
Seriously, I have always liked your painting style and this piece is, I think, your best.
Well done you.

I agree, this version is WAY better than the box art. I also agree with you about the face . Many of this sculptor's faces are very similar to this and I dislike them intensely. I find them doll-like and just a bit weird looking (the rest of the figure is great though).

It's the faces that put me off H&V pieces. If I were to paint this one, I would have to swap out the head. But all that said - great job. The camo is superb and I love the groundwoprk.

Wow, thanks for the response guys!

Allan, Djoubri, Vitalino, Pedro, Rich, Blunderbus, Derek, Pedro, Martin, Laurent, Keith, Brian, Steve, Xenofon, Stefan, Konstantin and Markus: Many thanks for leaving a commen, and all others for 'liking'. After having this on the bench since July, it is very satisfying to know you like the figure.

@Pedro A: As said, I can recommend the figure. Casting and Fit are very well and the folds are a pleasure to paint. If you want to buy you'll have to go to FeR Miniatures now.

@Keith: Yeah I thought to keep it simple this time and dip it in Vallejo WSS camouflage effect... If only that were available!

@Steve and Martin: I am flattered by your comment, but it is too much praise. I had the advantage of being able to study Jaume's version and particularly the face is much smoother than mine (and my figure's). Anyway, thanks for liking it that much!

Cheers,
Adrian

Superb work, Adrian! Another cracker of a figure to add to your collection!
I have to agree with some of the other comments, I much prefer your version to the box art.
