This girl remains untitled but that will soon change. She is getting close to finished but I am looking for serious critique before the final stages of painting. The idea behind her is the juxtaposition of her little girl colors compared to the giant sword and her advanced body. She shows that no matter how delicate a female may appear she still has the ability to become a formidable force.

This is what is not in the final stages: her cape her fur fringe on the gloves, boots & hat, her boots and the basework.

I am going for a high contrast look. I know this doesn't appeal to everyone but it does to me. I am looking for critique on the actual painting & color motif.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I though the same (flesh only).

I think you could go for brighter highlights on the sword Mike. Either that, or deepen the shadows.
The transitions of the highs on the leg straps appear a little stark, you could blend them a touch more.
Having said all that it looks a lovely figure, and the basing is superb.
Who makes it?

Good point about the sword, that is something I would have missed. The stark highlite on the ribbon is a good point to. I have been going back & forth with blend or not to blend. I think I will see how blended looks on her.

She is made by Pegaso.

Thanks for the comments and help so far.

I was only being pernickety Mike, minor details.
No sock dude on this one?o_O
Carl.

Look a little closer sir, he's there right in front of you. probably too hard to see from the reflection.

One thing:

Where the fabric overlaps the 0 rings on the leg straps, some directional highlighting to make that part pop out some.

perfect. That's what I'm looking to do. Nice video gadget thing.

I would push the highlights more on the cape and on top of the fur wrap. You may already have that done but the lighting doesnt reflect it. YOu going to the Lonestar show??

yesir, I'll be at the show and the Cabos workshop. I have just started on the cape and fur fringe so I will be adding equal amounts of highlite to these as her pants.. Thanks for checking her out sir.

Mike your work really blows me away so I am sure it is stunning. Grab a seat next to Stevens and I for the paint class. We will have to go to my brother in laws restaurant for dinner though it wont compare to yours!! I still dream of those fries and the burger!! Best EVER!!!

Mike, overall it makes a good impression on me. I do not feel like I have enough experience or knowledge to criticize any miniature, but I think that some outlining the straps and key highlights on the face would not do much harm. Other than that, the pictures seem to be a little underexposed and out of focus.

Hey Mike,

Another imaginative piece from you. You've really developed your own style, even without the doll!

Not much to nag here, but for the sake of feedback I also like to suggest a bit more outlining of the different things like the straps, and to use some very sparse highlights on all things gold.

I hope this is of any help.

Cheers,
Adrian

Thank you friends for the excellent feedback. i am applying the suggestions and she is looking better than I thought she could. This little part of PF is going to be a great tool for us all. Thank you again.

Hi Mike
Love your painting. The only thing i would add is applying a thin dark wash on the gold parts which would give them more depth.Other than that an exceptional paint job.
