Hi folks!

Well not my period... I know vallejo 922 USA uniform is a good choise to start but I cant find the right tone for the; tunic / trousers and backpack, if anyone know a good mix to share I will be very pleased.
Thanks in advance.

Pedro

Thanks Carl, nice site.
I will try Vallejo Reflective green (90) dont like the USA Uniform.

Cheers

Hi Pedro,

Here's what I used for my Vietnam Hamburger Hill figure:

Uniform
Base: 893+896 (1:1)
Highlights: Base+821 & Base+986
Shadows: Base+965 & Base+black 950

I used 893+821 for the tan coloured pouches
and 896+986 (1:1) as base colour for the helmet cover, highlighted with more 986.

Hope this is of use.

Cheers mate!

Adrian

Adrian cheers mate, appreciated.
Did you plan to go to euro in September?

Pedro.

The best colour ever was Humbrol Enamel French Artillery Green, but I'm not sure what the equalivalent is in Vallejo.

Whatever colour you choose, don't forget that sweat and dirt will make the colour considerably darker.

Tony, thank you for the tip.
Carl, thanks again.
I will make experiences with the following colours: Vallejo reflective green and Humbrol acrylic 102 for the tunic and trousers. Webbing I will use Vallejo USA Uniform with a few drops of English uniform and lets see what happen.

Thanks guys!

Pedro.

Pedro,

Having worn the uniform in 1970 while I was in Viet Nam I can tell you that the David.Brubaker site is a good start. Depending on when we got there, there were several patterns. The colors of the new rip stop ones ones were for the most part uniform in nature, a bit darker than the site shows. After several months in the field , they faded. Especially the non rip stop ones to a very light green, almost a yellowish light green. The canvas sides of the jungle boots would change colors also. That was a key to telling how long you were in country. The green would fade, and depending what part of the country you were in, the sides would almost turn reddish color. That's because the dirt had a reddish tint to it.

Mig makes a Viet Nam earth pigment that is very realistic to the actual dirt.

Sorry to ear that Adrian.:(

Ed, many thanks for your veteran opinion. My 3 degree cousin fought in Vietnam and returned after his tour to Woonsocket RI in 1972. From his company only returned home 10 guys in one year comission. Now he come back to Portugal and live near Viseu, his name is José Carlos and have many health problems unfortunately.

Pedro.
