WIP Critique USMC Radio Operator, 1/10 bust Young Miniatures

My last project for 2018/ first project for 2019.

Been in my GA for a few years but I recently acquired decals for the M18 smoke grenades and thought it would be good to bring this piece to life.

I’m trying to create a youthful look, but with weathering and further washes, I’ll try to give him a tired, combat face.

The mojo is flowing. Still base coating some parts, but face painting is largely done.

Fabulous face, was the stubble sculpted or painted?

I applied a stipple coat of Josonja texture paste over the face prior to priming. It creates a nice texture that replicates stubble.

That's a good use of the texture paint ...and just enough , not overworked

Those eyes ...just scream the period of history ...great

You using Oils or JS ..if JS do you use them straight and mix on a WP or make a mix up ?

I apply Josonja acrylics on a dry pallet and typically apply washes of oils diluted in white spirits. For this bust, I’ll also apply some weathering pigments to bring the Vietnam look together.
