Hello everyone!

After chatting with Quang at the Montrouge contest in Paris, I've started this new project (roughly 200mm bust):

Still a lot of work to do, but i'll try to post regular updates :)

Patrick

Hello Patrick,

I guess this is NOT what they call 'procrastinating'!

Looking forward to the next step.

Cheers,
Quang

Excellent work on the mask. It captures the look and feel very well. Looking forward to seeing the rest.

Bye, Ming-Hua

i realize that its WIP, but the cheekbones are a bit too big in my opinion.

looks awesome though, good luck with the project

That is really cool Patrick. I can't wait to see this one in the end. A couple of points about it that grab me though are like Matt pointed out, the cheek bones. I don't know that they're too big. I think that they are too rounded. From the photo, it looks as though they should be flatter on the front of the face. The other point is the smile. From the photo, it looks as though the smile should be a sweeping, "U" shaped smile instead of having the corners of the mouth upturned. He looks a little too jolly than he does sinister. The mask looks as though the face is being pulled back into a forced smile than a voluntary smile. But it still looks freaky cool. Keep us posted on this.

Excellent start......

next it will be the Watchmen! or maybe Captain Nemo from the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Thanks guys!

Mathhew, Kevin: the cheeks are a bit too prominent indeed, but i intend to flatten them and smooth them out a bit when baked (this is Sculpey / Fimo).

Kevin: For the shape of the smile, I have other photo where it doens't look so "U-shaped", like here and there. On the Comics cover it does looks somewhat " \___/ "-shaped too :)

So I added the volume using tin foil and a layer of Sculpey, and baked it yesterday evening:

edit: this is a crappy rendition of what I'm looking for

ER

Hi Patrick... you and Quang
you have had one beautiful idea.
Good beginning of sculpture
aspect in order to see it complete
Good continuous......... ;)

MAB

Ernest, the movie is based in one of the greatest comic books of all times by writer Alan Moore. You should check it, bro ;)

BTW, great likeness.

Thx y'all (y)

Actually, someone mentioned me that it wasn't a "true" Comics, Alan Moore being English.. anyway it sure does look appealing, in fact I plan to buy it tomorrow :)

Maurizio: I saw (and drooled over) your Joachim Murat: now that I know you like Vendetta too, this just put a little more pressure

Stay tuned!

I changed the pose i had in mind when i came across this picture:

I went this saturday to buy the comic and i was lucky: in the shop where i bought it, there was an exhibition of Lloyd and Moore original work (including Vendetta)The icing on the cake was provided with the original mask in a display case  The small picture where V holds one of his dagger comes from a free magazine that was on the counter of the shop ^^

Anyway, V said "Gimme a Hand" so that's what i did

(Five lengths of thin wire inserted into a small piece of tubing, flattened with a pair of pliers, then welded to a thicker piece of wire provided the frame of the arm)

Cheers :)

[edit] I'm still looking for a quick and easy way to make six identical daggers... has anyone got an idea? I thought of resin copies, but 1) the daggers are really thin and 2) I'm not sure I could succeed in making such fragile copies bubblefree.

Saw me the movie yesterday... damn' that was a good movie! Excellent interpretation, good filming, and the best scenario so far this year!
When i got back home, I just coudn't resist it and read the first chapter of the comic :)
