Struggling along, trying to create the look of satin or silk for the vampire. I feel like I’m hitting a wall on this. Hopefully I can push through and make some real progress tomorrow. Thinking about how to get the colors to be both oppositional and to hang together, if that makes any sense. Maybe it’s all too contrasty?

Hi Matt

My thoughts on the silk are it works , pushing the highs helps as you’ve done , the shadows work well

Look forward to seeing how the next session goes

If I may ...perhaps push the victims dress further ?

As for brick walls ...same with the sash on my Wellington bust !

Enjoy the benchtime

I second what Nap said, it's coming along well, Matt.
This picture may be of assistance, I know they are blue and white rather than purple but it may help. Original in Wallace Collection.

I can't really add much (beyond my pay grade) but I am enjoying and learning from seeing how you are developing this, thanks for sharing.

Maybe try and work some of the purple into the shades closer to the vamp to harmonise between them. Good luck with the pink but you pulled the purple off well this I'm sure will follow suite.

Cheers Simon

Whether you realize it or not, Matt, it's coming together as you were wanting it to, at least from what I'm seeing. Softening up some of the transitions will make it pop, but you are making it happen. Keep going, this is one of your best works, Buddy!;)

P.S. That switch to pink did in fact make an excellent change. I think you'll be able to get a really good amount of depth on the pink dress and magnify the purple. Ya, this is lookin good.

IMO that's looking really good. The pink/white combo works well for me - the white edging complement the vampire's skin tones.

Agree there Nigel

Great to see Matt progress on this dramatic piece , must admit I like the skin tones on both

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Ok, so I had a concept that I’m struggling to execute. I envisioned this as set in an interior at night, with candlelight shining on the figures, and moonlight coming in from a window behind them. I need to darken shadows on the candlelight side and work on the contour of the victim’s face. Mostly it just needs more contrast, but what else is missing?
