Hello

Few times ago I puted the first WIPs from Viriatus... The guy that challenged Rome...

Viriatus was the leader of a tribe in Iberia... The Lusitanos... We use the first guerrilla techiniques that was described in history...

After Roma defeat Carthago they started the conquest of Iberia, because many tribes are side by side with Cartagians agians a comum enemy, ROME...

Viriatus was a sheperd, and we tryed to put some symbols to give reference to that... If you see, the legs have sheep skin... Another reference is the wolf cape... The wolfs are the true enemy of sheperds... But they have a enemy too... The human... And the Roman are the top enemy too, but like the wolfs, they can be defeat too... The cape is symbol of courage and determination... Is our objective to put this emotions in the figure...

We study a lot the Lusitanos, but the references arent so much... Most of the biography is from Iberos... And some people thing they are the some people, but Lusitanos are on tribe with different customs and with their own personality...

This is just wips... Its almost finish, but we have work for a little time... But everthing is in the good way...

Thank you so much, and as always, tips, comments. ideas, tips are welcome...

With best regards

Likely to turn out a true winner. Like the determination expressed by his entire attitude.

Hi Hugo

Thanks for the WIP's certainly a dramatic pose as you say a simple shepherd but a true leader in Guerrilla warfare .

Like the facial work and the way the spear is about to be launched against an unseen ( to us ! ) enemy

The wolf skin cape will be a nice challenge to work on as well

Looking forward to more on this fellow

Excellent start Hugo. A very dynamic pose. I am sure this one will fly off the shelves as will Boudicca.

Definitely, one of the best figurine I saw, very dynamic and full of expression.
Chapeau bas for all this amazing projects (Boudica too) and your efforts to rise the artistic level!

Excellent figure

I have certain doubt of that bracelet in the arm ... it is more used by the Celtic people
The sword, I think it did not have that form
As far as I know, wore the falcatas, a sword widely used by the Iberian people
But I may be wrong ...

Well done, RP Models !!

Hi Hugo

Good response as always I would be interested in your thoughts about the use of the sword he has on him

......the Iberian one is also one that should be considered to be used rather than the one there especially after the statue Vitalno posted

Looking good like the way the facial expression and the hair movement ax well

Thanks for sharing this

Hello my GOOD FRIEND Kevin

Thank you so much my friend... This is another great subject, that born in last Euro Militaire Show, when we talked in our stand... This project have a special touch because Viriatus belongs to the Portuguese History... He is a symbol of resistance and determination... I think this is in a good way, to another good sculpture...

When we talked about Viriatus, I and my kushand, Nuno... Talked and talked... And talked... Try to find the mean... And what Viriatus represents... I was fortunate to have a fundamental and execpcional help ... Its a great friend and a person who does not exist words to express the kindness and availability that has provided us in this project ... THANK YOU...

Viriatus comes in April and will be a 75mm figure and a 1/10 bust.

Thank you so much.
Big ugg and take care.

Hello my good friend Vitalino

Thank you for your comment...

I know you have doubts, but Im here to help you...

Lusitanos use the sowrd that you talked about... Well done... But they use another sword... Two points sword, and we puted this sword because we liked and to be different... Has you know, we tried always talk with people about the figures that we develop... And has I told you before Ive the opurtonity to have a great help of a friend... He knows a lot, and he give us all the information... We shared ideas, and the 2 points sword is better and it will be more attractive because of the details... Its just an opinion of course... If we used falcata its correct too... And there arent no photo register about Viriatus... So the task its difficult, but its done...

About the statue... Thank you for share, but I think you already understand the idea...

The Virias, the second doubt... Im here too help you... Viriatus use them... As matter the fact, the name Viriatus became from that Virias... And today. you can see a new Historical University knowlodge, Faculdade de Letras de Lisboa, where people can do History Course, that defend the name Viriatus is the name that Roman people put him, because he used many 'Virias'. Its just another information...

My good friend thank you for you be always here... Ready to help us... Your strenght and believe is teh best award that we can have... I know we win the Gold Medal in Nuremberg in last year, with Blondie Hasler, bust of the year... But the true and really award or medal is your friendship and believe... THANK YOU so much for believe in RPmodels and in us...

Big ugg and take care.

Hi Hugo
OK
I'm convinced !!
But I still think the falcata should be used on the figure, it's an iconic weapon ... that's why !!
I did not know they wore Celtic bracelets ... always learning
Good job
