I've finished puttin' this one together, I had it runnin' while I was puttin' the finishin' touches to my Roman. I've been in love with this Andrea figure for awhile now 'cos of its strikin' and death dealin' pose, it jus' has so much life and dynamism. I haven't seen anythin' else that can rival it!

This is a 2005 model figure from Andrea, and the fit of the parts are jus' exquisite, everythin' matches up perfectly with little fuss. Its awesome!

Hi PAul, this is a fine figure with lots of action, one of the better ones from Andrea, look foward to seeing the progres on this.
Cheers
Tommi

I like it, but it seems there is not enough bulk under the surcoat to show that he's wearing a chainmail hauberk much less a coat of plates. The dynamics of the stance are really nice though.

Nice, but why does he not wear his helmet? Would a knight in battle ever do that? Don't tell me he lost it. It's just one of those liberties figuremakers are inclined to take.

Yeah, i'll be addin' one and layin' it at his feet somewhere. It kind of depends on a lot of things really.
For example, if I was to place this guy at Crecy or Agincourt as the boxart states that he is, then he could be considered to be slaughterin' the wounded and dyin' on the battlefield. Usually they would put a knife in 'em at the armpit. At the battle of Crecy a lot of this sort of thing happened, and at this time it was considered to be the end of chivalry, where beforehand the wounded and captured were treated the opposite.

Maybe, he'd got a killstreak goin' on and needed to come up for air, so to speak. LOL

This is the hay day of the chevauchee, and a cool setting may be him opening up some chests or casks of loot with that axe. That would give him the perfect excuse not to have his helmet on and to have his shield guiged on his back and sword sheathed.

Great work as usual, my friend! Paul, where have you been so long? I thougth something weird has happen, ´cause I have read nothing from you in the various blogs I attend! Hope, everything is fine!!

Frank, for the past four months I had a break from paintin' figures, and pretty much didn't want anythin' to do with any of 'em. I'm back now though, with a vengeance.

I don't post over on Mig's anymore, i'll leave 'em to their armour. My work is a little misplaced over there.

I'm so happy to see you on here, Frank. I hope you post some of your work on here.

Thanks, guys.

The armour has now been flatcoated, and i've gone ahead with this design.

I got this image off the net (any old lion will do), printed it out and then drew some basic lines over it, so that when I paint it, I can first copy these lines down, and end up havin' the symmetry of the lion laid out, and lookin' pretty good.

My finished image of the lion looks like this. I may touch in some more 'fur' effects on the knees when i've finished paintin' the same image on his shield, but at the moment I want to keep things a little simple and not overburden myself too much. Next up, the shadin' and highlightin'...

Fantastic start Paul, The armour look great as does the heraldry, I will be following progress on this one.
