Hi all, been a fair while since I picked up a brush, but enjoyed this superb bust from Yedharo and purchased from Matt and Celine at El Greco. A long way from my best but a good result after a long break I guess. Let me know what you think.

Regards, Ron

Your treatment is very organic - which I think is great. The textures really come to life.
I bought this myself recently so will definitely keep your pics for reference. Nice work.

Yip it has been a while since your last work, thought you had fell off the planet :)

So from one Ron to another that looks really nice, did you use your usual technique of glazes.

Hi Stephan, thank you.
More than a while eh Ron. Yes glazes are my primary technique still, but I am doing what others say you can't, in as much as I now use acrylics over oil glazes to give a cleaner hi-lite.

Cheers

Ron

That sounds interesting ,when you say cleaner hi -lite do you mean popping out a bit more .
I find the highs are fine when first painted with oils but fade a good bit as the paint dries ,hence the interest.

Ron

By cleaner I mean it avoids the muddy effect you get when working wet on wet with oils. Acrylics don't allow the underlying oil colour/glaze to bleed through as with oils alone. Glazes dry flatter which allows the acrylic to adhere well.
Key to success is in letting the glaze dry naturally and not force drying them.
Hope this makes sense mate.

Regards

Ron
