Thanks Paul - I've never been a fan of the 'chalk and soot' school of painting (although I do admire the technical ability of those who choose and can paint in that way. There are some really high quality painters who use a slightly less exaggerated style which I prefer)

+1 to that Paul. Skin & faces in various shades of pink, lilac & purple .... I mean what's all that about?! I never got that, except maybe for some fantasy pieces.
Like you say, some great technical skills involved. But nevertheless ..... meh. :meh:

And yet not so long ago it seemed that style was almost compulsory if you were hoping to "medal" in the big competitions. There's still quite a bit of it about as well, although I think the pendulum may have started to swing back towards a more realistic style now.
