Yes, the yellow was for "flight" troops (pilots, parachutists...) the shoulder board has yellow piping.Thanks fot the picture Diego, as far I can see then the officer waffenfarbe color for the hat is silver and the shoulder board with golden yellow.
I think that I was incorrect in describing the piping as Waffenfarbe.
It is 'Silver piping' and is not the same,as such.
However, pilots with the rank of Fahnrich and Oberfahnrich would wear a cap with yellow waffenfarbe and also officers silver bullion cap cords as they were NCO's who were Officer candidates and this was a special distinction granted to them only.
As most Luftwaffe Officers appeared to be very concious of their rank status I would think it highly unlikely that W.M would wear the same headwear as a lowly 'Fahnrich'.
Some pictures of the Werner finished with the 2 optional heads, don't know when is out commercialy by Alpine.
