Ferris
A Fixture
Hi All,
Finished Werner over the weekend, after a break of a few weeks of no painting.
Somehow I found the pants difficult to paint. I found it hard to find the right areas for highlights and shades. For example his crotch area is in the shade of the arms and hands and I used the base colour for highlights, otherwise it looked strange. Took me quite a bit of fiddling. The pose places the shades and highlights in unexpected places, maybe that's it, not sure.
On the other hand, the boots were a breeze and fun to paint, a task I had been looking forward to since the beginning; the contrast of the shiny leather and matte felt parts was very pleasing to imitate. The sharp sculpting really helped here Mike .
The base is rather plain and simple, basically because I did not want to imitate Ernesto's box art version, yet had no better ideas. There's some empty space left and if you have any suggestion for something to add there, please let me know!
I couldn't choose between photo backgrounds, so I posted them both (too late for decisions here).
Overall a very satisfying figure to paint on which I could try out some new techniques, such as the leather.
Hope you like him.
Cheers,
Adrian
