As the title implies, this is geared mainly towards those who are closer to West Texas. Anyway, I was wondering if there are a few painters in the area that would be interested in having a "club" meeting of some sorts on a regular (or semi regular) basis. I say club but am using that term rather loosely. I mean more of an informal B.S. session where we can sit, talk and possibly even work on figures. I am currently in El Paso and would love to see it stay here but I am not above driving as long as it's not too far. This is not an attempt to take away from any other club in the region. It's just that those of us living in the El Paso area have one HECK of a drive to go anywhere else and I think most people here would like something a little more local. Anyway, is anyone else interested in this?

Hey Jim,
I know of 3 guys that are serious on learning to paint figures, and we were just recently discussing a get together. I don't know if you are aware that our one and only hobby shop recently stocked Vallejo paints, including the Panzer Aces, Model Air, pigments and other materials. These guys have been getting ready as they have been buying the Vallejo paints up as if they were tacos.

 Say it isn't so! I wonder how long that will last once they discover the RC guys don't buy it? OK, that was a cheap shot but hopefully it will last. Are they carrying the paint sets?

That would be GREAT! I am moving today and should be in a house tonight (a buddy is leaving for Astan and is renting his house to me and a friend). It's up in Pebble Hills but we can meet there, if it's not too far. I was thinking 9 June mostly as a meet and greet/ BS session. We can talk about the paticulars then and schedule more regular meetings. Maybe twice a month? Or once a month if that's too frequent. Since it's a few guys (I'm pretty sure I know who they are) I'm also going to see at work about "aquiring" a table and chairs so we can get down to buisness. Do you know Roger Claeps? I have been trying to get ahold of him over at TL to invite him there as well. In any case, please feel free to throw in your input.

AT LAST!!!!! I CAN SIT AND PAINT WITH LIKE MINDED PEOPLE AGAIN!!!!!!

Hello Jim and Joe,

This sounds like a great idea and I would love to be a part of it. Unfortunately the drive would be quite a trip to come down from San Angelo on a regular basis. I am in the same boat you are in with this so I thought I would throw out a suggestion.

With the great distances between cities in the western part of our state perhaps we could still keep in contact with what others in the region are doing through blogs or an email list. Might not work out but I know there are other painters out in the area. Getting them in touch with each other would be the goal and blogs are pretty easy to setup and update. We could link to each others sites and then improve the chances of connecting others who might be in a close location to people near them.

I recently started my own in an effort to see if there might be people in the area and to show previous and finished works. I hope to have some works in progress up soon. http://westtexasfigurepainter.blogspot.com/

Might be more than your talking about doing but its just a suggestion to add to the conversation.

Kevin, actually, it's an excellent idea. I was thinking about something along the same lines but hadn't really made any concrete decisions as of yet. I do like your idea for a blog. IT would allow for members as well as other areas to follow and keep up with what we're doing. Better than a newsletter I think. I will mention it to everyone at the first meeting. Thanks for the suggestion.
