Hi all,
1st in the series.

So when you look at your figures, made, part made, grey army or finished, what makes up the majority of them? (and by Majority, I mean 60% or more come from one of the above eras)
The examples included are guides; if you sculpt Nuns from the Middle ages, they would come under 'Medieval'.

If you don't have a theme, because you select figures that 'appeal' to you regardless of era, just vote other and leave a message.

The ideas is see what makes up the bulk of what is out there.
Be interesting to see what is out there, and what other Planeteers are doing.

Me? (I hear you ask) - I fall into 'Other'; the majority of my figures are currently Ladies. 4 years ago, it would have been Cold War era soviets troops.
The ladies now outnumber the Warsaw Pact.:D

Poll will be open to 21st Feb 2009.

Cheers

Jamie,

I voted Ancient, WW1,WW2 and Other. As I said on your other post, I don't go for particular historical periods but rather for figures that appeal to me.

Good luck with your survey. I hope you get some useful information out of it.

Next poll idea

Tony,
thanks for the multi vote and note.

When this poll closes, the next poll will be the wish list, again, segmented by broad era.

Then, going by the feed back, I may start to do era/ theme specifics.

cheers

Ancient
Medieval
World War 2
Other (eg Ladies, Fantasy, Sci-Fi)
there where my vote go.... come on look at what the fist sculpt i posted here you know what i like :D

Voted for all except 2, as I am going through a faze where I look for a potential conversion, no matter what amount of work there is to do

Dave

Although i've just voted,i must add that i would do an era that i didn't vote for if the figure has a good pose or face full of character.
Barrie.

None of those. Whenever there is talk about 'preferred areas', there is a huge void between the middle ages and Napoleonics. What about Renaissance, 17th and 18th centuries? And mind you, then it's not all ECW and FIW.

So my preferred areas are Thirty Years War, early standing armies (ca. 1660-1725), French Revolution (pre-Napoleonic!).

There's a longboat of Vikings pulling up outside... they look upset about being lumped into 'Ancient' :D

Einion

i have more napoleonics in my collection compared to anything else, but i'll give anything a crack (usually the stuff that doesn't sell) but i guess i love to paint braid so how can you go past the 19th century

Interesting to see this develop, so far.

Well thanks for all your input.

First, some feedback to the posters.
Tony & Barrie, glad to hear that you choose figures that 'speak' to you somehow.

Vergilius, For the civil war, is it the American one, or are you waiting for the European history poll to come out?

Revliss; I enjoyed your reply:D

Andreas; Thanks for letting me know of the 'gaps'. There are several inter war periods that are barely covered, if at all. I'll add your input when I do the European History poll. (Renaissance, 17th & 18th centuries plus the others, best fit) What is the FIW? (Australian history lessons usually focus on explorers discovering bits of Australia, dying in deserts, or Gallipoli)

Einion; hopefully the Vikings can sort out the spat between Knights & Samurai being lumped in the same class, with the old argument of Katana vs Broadswords:D

Ian; welcome back, can understand that you have a big event Kim wants your help with. I'd never have guessed you for a braid kind of guy:D

Quick stats;
A total of 106 votes cast by 49 voters. This means that on Average we have an interest in 2 main eras, and a slight interest one other area (mathematically speaking) (Actually equals 2.16 average)

Areas of interest; Interwar periods, Standing Armies from these periods.
European armies that are not main stream. Renaissance period, 17th & 18th Century (these would be omitted data fields)

Specific topics mentioned; Conversions, Sculpting, Retailers slow stock, Character ("interesting" figures) [These would be outliers - bits of information that lie outside the main data area]

This has been an excellent start point.

Cheers

Don't know if this is relevant, I'd personally like to see more War of Spanish Succession and Am Rev figures (particularly Hessians) in 54mm.

I am not so particular, but my interest is more 20th century onwards.

I didn't vote for it, but I don't mind sci-fi as a bit of a change either.

Jamie, FIW = French Indian Wars (American theatre of war, as opposed to Europe's War of the Austrian Succession and Silesian Wars including Seven Years War).

I am definitely also interested in the interwar periods, military and civilian costume in general, and non-military subjects.

Oh, and theres a small flock of Dinosaurs (Aegithalos caudatus) tweeting loudly over being set with ladies, Fantasy and Sci-Fi... again.

Spike.

Now that time period..

...really came out of left field!

Spike, thanks for that. :D

My favourite dinosaur as Kid was always Triceratops, ANd I have the James Gurney Dinotopia series too.

So far, the most original 'other' answer so far.

Cheers
