Acrylics , enamels , oils ????
Brushes or air brush ?
Figures or Busts or something else ?
What era , Napoleonic , Fantasy , world war , modern , British

Acrylics and acrylic ink.
Brush as I don't have the option.
Figures and busts. Not tried a flat but won't rule them out. Still trying out other scales but more used to 28-32mm.
Used to fantasy and sci-fi. Napoleonic doesn't really tempt me but older historical does. Medieval, Samurai, Viking, Roman (more gladiator than troops). Open to a well crafted miniature.

Oils (over enamels or acrylic base coat)
Brush (AB the base coat)
Bust occasionally a figure 120mm
Non military, just something that take my fancy

Hmm, subject to change with the wind or even if I fancy a new completely different type of figure . . . .

Acrylics (Used to use oils and still use them for the odd bit) Brushes coz I can't be faffed with all the messing about with an airbrush, even though I've got a couple and know which end the paint comes out of. ;)

Whole figures even though there are some cracking busts about you have to draw the line somewhere. 54 mm exclusively these days because I like the traditional scale - they don't take up much room or time to paint.

Presently Napoleonics, but went through a cowboy phase. Tend to work with a particular sculptor rather than a period. Anything other than modern stuff appeals. No fantasy these days, but might add a couple that appeal, who knows

Mick has a point, Women especially the missus, in case she is reading this over my shoulder:eek:

Anything that touches my fancy. Usually not WWI but I did like the motor transports that was put out by "Tommy's War". Any scale except Large garage kits.
I don't do Busts, hence I usually do not look at busts on this site

Oils over acrylics 95% of the time.
I have taken a class with Fernandez Ruiz and did a couple of Acrylics only. In the fall I will be taking a class with Julio Cabos with a Scale 75 figure and I am looking forward to that.
I try to keep moving forward
Cheers
John

Hi John

For little old me .....

acrylics and water based oils ( Cobra )

Busts ..but very rarely fantasy oh and then busts ...with a bust for a back up !

Any scale really ...tried to just paint 1/16 th ...prepped up several ...but still painting larger scales !

Any subject matter that takes my fancy ...except girlie ones ...SWMBO has decreed !

Can't be trusted with an airbrush ...overspray potential on SWMBO ! ...so it's brush all the way

Resin, Resin and more resin

Metal if it is not cast in resin

Acrylics and Da Vinci series 10 brushes

Most things Napoleonic, Ancient or Medieval. 75mm upwards although I do have a lot of 54mm sitting here but the eyes are struggling now.

Latte

Acrylics , enamels , oils???

Oils over acrylics. Haven't used enamels since Adam was in short trousers.

Brushes or airbrush ?

Brushes for fine detail and smaller scales, but for busts & larger scales (90 mm and up) I'm increasingly using acrylics through an airbrush for laying down the base coat and some of the highs & shades.

Figures or Busts or something else?

Figures and busts. As in "proper busts" (V-busts or head & shoulders). Less keen on half-figures (often sold as "busts" but they're not!) because for me they're neither one thing or the other.

What era , Napoleonic , Fantasy , world war , modern , British

Absolutely anything that takes my fancy. I randomly ride the time winds. Any era, and any scale from 1/35 to 200 mm. My stash is currently home to a Neanderthal, a modern-day "private military contractor" and pretty much everything in between. I've also got a few fantasy pieces knocking around.

Acrylics.

Napoleonic
US first nation warriors.
Flats.
Some Medieval,
Odd Victorians ....(cos they are).
Cold War British
some small scale 28-32mm figs that take the fancy.

That's it.

Paul.

These kind of threads always make for interesting reading, so here goes.

Acrylics , enamels , oils ????
Acrylics and oils, depending what kind of effect I'm trying to achieve.

Brushes or air brush ?
Brush, however I have been know to use the airbrush to basecoat figures on occaision.

Figures or Busts or something else ?
I started out with round figures, then found flats but have recently found my way back to round figs again, mainly due to the subject matter being of interest to me.

What era , Napoleonic , Fantasy , world war , modern , British
My figure painting is strongly influenced by whichever historical period I am interested in at the time. Usually between 1500-1945 but wouldn't rule anything out if it's interesting.
