Oils is the only medium I use, both in painting and in cooking! W&N Artist quality oils on an undercoat of matt Humbrol enamel. The oil paint diluted with white spirit and used as a wash or straight from the tube wet on dry.
Cheers,
Pierre
I do
But usualy after the undercoating, I paint first with Humbrol the main parts a lighter shade that the one I want without shadows or highlights then with oils
Count me in also.
Generally oils over matt enamel (Humbrol), and occasionally over acrylics.
I also use enamels alone (and sometimes acrylics) when I think the subject warrants it.
Some illustrations then
First layer Humbrol with some white added
Then Oil covering all, wiped out with a sponge, pressing more or less according to the result required ( sometime wiping ut 95% of the color ) then adding shadows and highlights, eyes with chinese inks applied with a round pen, sometime drybrushing with powder of chalks, metal with metal paint Humbrol first painted matt black Humbrol adding ditrcctly metal before black is dried ...
Rob. You've been asking pretty much the same questions about oil painting for the past few years.
Take a deep breath and jump in and paint, you've got all the info you need to start.
You really need to actually do something to put all the advice and info into practice.
Cheers
Derek
Have to agree with Del mate...there is absolutely no substitute for trying it out...then ask relevant questions based on your experiences...there is nothing that can't be answered for you.
Yes i agree guys the reason for this is because i had to quit the hobby a few years ago because of health reasons have been ready to start back a few times but the same problems keep creeping back in . Might be a little to anxious this time i feel like i want to paint today but it’s just not going to happen yet . Hope all understand what I’m saying here ? Just want to look at others work that know what they are doing here to see what can be achieved . I’ll try to limit my posts here till I’m sure i can sit to paint . Thanks all
Rob it's not about limiting posts it's about not imposing limits on yourself.
If your intention is to look at others work for inspiration that"s fine but it can only be useful if you produce something to give you a comparison. Ask questions by showing a piece and saying for example how do I improve my eye painting. As Ron says there's nothing that can't be answered.......so crack on we need all the oil painters we can get
