Dear planeteers!

Today I have a searching play for You.

The famous Russian photographer Jewjenij Chaldej

Reichstag_3.jpg

... took this famous picture on the 2nd of May, 1945 showing the hoisting of the flag on the Reichstag in Berlin...:

Reichstag_1.jpg

Regarding to the motive he was insired by his US colleague Joe Rosenthal with his also famous picture of the of US soldiers hoisting the flag on Iwo Jima, 23rd of February, 1945.

Nevertheless, the Reichstag photo would never have appeared!

The Soviet censorship permitted to endless diskussions , finally, only the publication of a retouched - or censored - copy, namely this...:

Reichstag_2.jpg

The photografer had taken a small but heavy mistake that had to be erased before from the picture before.

Who knows - or finds - the difference?

Cheers

You are absolutely right, Gordy!

The officer below carries on the original photo on every arm a wristwatch what suggests to the viewer that he has looted.

Reichstag_4.jpg

After the official soviet propaganda soldiers of the Red Army were no looters!

So the photographer had to retouch the clock at the right wrist before the publication.

(Does somebody maybe feel free, a new riddle here to post, in with it goes around figures and/or history ...?

All the best to You!

Thank God someone got the difference as my brain was starting trying to figure it out.
Did anybody spot that the watches are at different times.

Only kidding!!!!
Brian

The wrist watches may have been one thing changed...the biggest mistake is that the flag is waving as if it is in the wind...everyone knows there is no wind in Berlin..or was that the moon? o_O
