I have a particular fondness for Pat Bird, for producing "real" figures in my formative years, saving me from the likes of Monarch, Valiant, and I-R. (guess I'm dating myself, aren't I?) Similarly, the work of Richard Almond and Ray Lamb gave me increasingly sophisticated figures to paint. More recently, it is hard to pick with so many excellent figures out there. I like the work of Mike Good, and his Culloden highlander was one of my most enoyable painting experiences.
