I've been experimenting with oil washes on this figure, using a mixture of prussian blue and van dyke brown diluted in white spirits to deepen the shadow tones and create more sweat stains.
I've also added the sling for the bren gun, using fuse wire and masking tape.
I'm pretty happy with him now and will start work on the base soon.
The painting and weathering are finished now, but I haven't found the right base for this figure yet, so I'm going to put him aside and start work on another project while I wait for the right base.
When it does come I intend to create a wet, muddy jungle with lots of ferns, bracken and leaf litter.
Thanks for your help and encouragement on this figure. I know its a subject close to your heart. Hopefully the boys from 2/2 I.C. will approve. Any chance you might make it over for WASMEx this year?
I hope to be in Perth sometime in May or June, and hopefully we can catch up. I am sure the 2/2 IC boys would be very happy with it. Not many left now sadly. According to Heilbrunn's Warfare in the Enemy's Rear they fought the most successful guerilla campaign in the Second World War.
Doubt that I will make it for WASMex Tony. I am going to South America in October and then to NZ in Nov - Dec
