Hi guys.

I've been busy lately working on this magnificent 1/10th scale bust by Young Miniatures of a US Infantryman in the Ardennes 1944.

To simulate the rough texture of the woollen overcoat, I stippled talcum powder over the surface after priming.

I haven't started shading yet, and there's still the right hand, back pack and rifle to be painted.

Hope you like it so far.

Looks great Tony,
I would recommend that you made a dark red wash and put this betweenn the eyeball and lower eyelid. This will reduce the in my opinion to much white into the eye and give's a more natural look.
A catchlight is also a possibility to give more life in the eye, but i personally don't like it.

So far so good here Tony. I am ready to prime my version of this bust as we speak. Should be making progress in the next few weeks as well! Looking forward to your finished piece!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.

Marc, I'll be adding some red wash to the eyes as you suggested. I don't like catchlights either. I will apply gloss varnish on the eyeballs once the painting is completed.

I started shading the overcoat and webbing tonight. I'll post more pics soon.

Thanks Mario & Mark,

I'm really glad you like it so far.

I've done more shading today on the overcoat and webbing.

Hi Seb, Hardy and Marcel,

Thanks guys, I always appreciate your comments and encouragement.

I've attached a few new pics taken last night to show you where I'm up to.

The backpack and rifle have only been base coated.

Lookin good

Ho tony,
looking good. as always..... at this rate, I expect there to be some articles on your figures in some magazines soon...:D

Just a thought- for a figure in winter, the helmet looks a bit 'clean'. If the GI looks that unshaven, then I dare say that snow, mush and slush would have left remnants around the helmet at least.

Mind you, this may be a moment when I posting about something about three steps too early...again!!;) Im sure you'll do a great job of making him look 'field worn' closer to completion

Great work Tony, thanks for sharing...
Thumbs up!

cheers
