Terry's update brings me back to this thread. I finally assembled and installed the hutch back on my bench:



Like you, Terry, I had thought about this for a long time, but hesitated. I cut some of the stock a year or two ago, but never made that last push. Well, taking advantage of the lockdown, I made that last stretch and finished it. The bench still looks like hell, but now I'm reorganizing all of the stuff on it, and reorganizing my storage, to take advantage of the additional shelves. Since I took that picture, I've got a bunch of supplies and odds & ends in plastic takeout containers, labeled and stacked neatly on the shelves. I still have my painting stuff set up on the kitchen table, though. That will take a little more effort to get squared away.

The most important element in my work bench can be summed up as light, lots and lots of light. I keep two benches, a dirty bench for sanding, fitting and any work that creates waste. And a clean bench for painting.
