Agree there ....I don't even have legs to paint and Marcus is still quicker !

Perhaps the wounded horse one have the rider with his left hand to his eyes as though in sorrow ?

Following these with interest

Happy benchtime

Thanks mate, for these I’m trying to do close to the original illustration as Pat is using for his secret history writing. Agreed, the hand rubbing his eye in sorrow would be great, for this he is holding the reins pulling the horses head toward him in a knowing way to ease his friends pain.

Bit more progress with the 1/35 build. Still some putty and sculpting work to do.

Couldn’t sleep so did some more sculpting to the small 1/35 WW1 scenic base. I’m trying to make the build as close to the original comic illustration as possible. To add to the shocking scene, the British cavalry rider (like something from the horseman of the apocalypse) rides through a destroyed graveyard, a hint at the god of death Hades.

Hi Marcus

You are without doubt Mr Greenstuff !...long may it continue

Great graveyard work , the corpse looks really good in place

I like both vignettes but the second really hits the spot .......the first is a very much a in keeping version of the original image

Excellent modelling

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy putty pushing

Is this a paint me green and call me Shrek moment! :D

Cheers fella. I concur, I'm liking the seated Cavalry scene as its specific to the comic composition, so getting into that and it will look good modelling wise. Like the illustrator, lots of artistic licence, example that the lance is fiction. But overall a very interesting and disturbing scene all in one. The other smaller vignette is more melancholic, but same time more realistic for a WW1 cavalry scene.

I too am a massive fan of Charley's War which must rank as the greatest British anti-war comic strip. Absolutely brilliant stuff! Hope to see plenty more scenes - Charley's War certainly has hundreds of great images that are begging to be modelled. Keep it up!

Thanks Steve. Sadly the big dog is a goner, the soldier is letting his best friend go to the pasture in the sky :(

Oh I getcha, but try to explain that to my lil woman, HA! I told her "someday we may have to eat them Big Dogs", only to get smacked upside the back of the head, lol.

That would be a tough decision for anyone who loves horses, but it can be necessary, unfortunately. We've been through it before ourselves. Great work on the fig and pony.
