Hi

i wasn't sure if this was ok for Planet fIgure because it a dio rather than just a figure but it was suggested that I post it so here it is.

I started this build a couple of years ago but put it aside when I started to sculpt busts, however I returned to it a few weeks ago.

I got as far as building the base and wedge of tank before the build stalled:

the first figures added was the single Tommy attacking the trench:

And here he is in place:

next was the first German - one who unfortunately is right under the path of the tank and is cowering against the rear wall of the trench

And here he is placed in position - the crate has yet to be painted, but I wanted to see him in place:

Brilliant work, Peter. Reminds me of the 1:1 scale WW1 tank diorama at Bovington; I guess you used one of the old Emhar Mk.IV kits for this - I can’t imagine anyone cutting up a new-generation Tamiya, Takom or Meng kit to make a wedgie out of it.....

Thanks for the support guys.

yes it is the Emhar kit, but with some replacement tracks.

there are times where it is nice to have a vehicles with figures to put them into the right context, but a full tank would over power them, becoming the dominant feature - as well as making the whole diorama a lot bigger - so chopping one up is a practical solution. I must admit that actually making the cut is a little nerve-racking!

I hope that I managed to get the balance between the tank not being too dominant but still reflecting its large, impressive size.

Thanks Marc.

If anybody is wondering about the trench section - I used the zig-zag trench section from ModelCellar: https://modelcellar.com/shop/time-period/wwi/interlocking-sandbag-sections-zig-zag/

For anybody who hasn't used them - they are really good, the ends are designed so that lengths can be joined together to make whatever length/shape you want. Very neat product.

The wood on the bottom part is my addition and I also added a few home made sandbags onto the top to cover the join with my ground work.
