Well, here I am Planeteers, for the first time, having been encouraged by Melanie and MalcC.
This is the Young Miniatures WWII British Paratrooper from Operation Market Garden in 1944.
Since the afore mentioned members saw this at the Faversham MMG Show in July, I have been back [for the sixth time!] to try and get the eyes better, further highlight the jacket zip and parachute webbing, as well as opening up the magazine loading aperture from the original closed position of the cast.
I am not a WWII 'expert' in any shape or form, just liked the look of this challenge. This is the fourth figure I have completed since joining FMMG and out of the other 31 'grey army' that await in the workshop, I have started another three.....
This one, and the first three might get to be shown on the 'in build' page in the near future.
I hope you like it....I await comments [to learn from], but the eyes will not be done again!!
Cheers,
Kim

Good afternoon Melanie.
Thank you for your quick reply and support both here and in person. I much enjoyed our conversation at Faversham too, and am planning to be at the Gravesham Show, so hopefully will get to see your wonderful Dutch Lancer 'in person'.
Regards,
Kim

A lovely bust, the eyes look like your efforts paid off, I'd like to say they get easier with practice but not always true. The rest of the figure is great, keep at it, the only way is up!

Cheers Simon

Do hope you might do a piece ...or several in V Bench

It’s all about enjoying the hobby .....” every time you pic a brush up we all learn “

Looking forward to seeing more from you

Happy benchtime

Mobo - thanks, appreciated.

Nap - Likewise, thanks for your comments and all the 'site's' information. I took the camouflage pattern from an actual denison jacket set of photos on eBay, but in the workshop I have a 200mm full figure of a Marine Commando from Operation Herrick in Afghanistan and a 1/9th bust of a helicopter pilot for the Regiment that cover Washington, USA........now for those I really would appreciate your prayers!

Regarding vBench, I'm just about to try and start posting my first build, since I joined FMMG some nine years ago and then catch up with the other three. After that, I'll look into other areas of pF, but thanks for all your encouragement here.

Pierre - your succinct points meant a lot, thanks, especially the skin tone.....I find that hard, especially when I look at others' figures, but I suppose the best way is to 'do your own thing' and then consider the feedback and adjust where you feel it fits your style. FMMG members have been really helpful to me on these matters.

Good to see you posting.
You've made a great job of this, the detailing is excellent.

Malc

Thanks Malcolm,
That means a lot, coming from you, and if it wasn't for your encouragement from the very outset [at FMMG], and later Geoff and Roy, I would not be here, enjoying all of these wonderful figures and their 'creators'!
With kind regards, my friend,
Kim
