If the mouth is the deal breaker then I think that Gaudins solution is worth considering.
What I'd do is to sculpt a new lower lip across the bottom teeth, a bit of re-shaping of the upper teeth to create lower teeth.
Sculpt in a heavier beard to cover the original lower lip area and re-sculpt a 'droopy' Gaul type moustache to cover the upper lip area.

I thought you were a priest not a plastic surgeon

Errrr .... but pretty much all of us have agreed that (mouth aside) it is a very nice piece that is sure to do well!! I even acknowledged that although it doesn't work for me personally, I could see what effect the sculptor was aiming for. And some guys don't appear to regard the mouth as a problem at all.

Last time I checked, this wasn't a forum on which only fawning, unconditional praise is allowed - the figure painting world's version of North Korea, if you like :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: . Which means that if you put up a piece for inspection, expect people to point out the things that they don't like, as well as the things that they do like (and yes, that helmet is beautifully done).

Steve, you have a tag labeling you as a "Super Moderator", and while I know it is difficult to pass correctly a message through a screen, let me just advise something short: Do not assemble my words, or any other persons words at your will to fire an argument.

So, the next time you want to quote me: Don't build sentences to twist a post. Understand? (y)

I always praised for freedom speech here and everywhere. Somehow I'm not the first to complain about your qualities that from time to time are far away moderation .... PM if needed, derailing a thread about such a great novelty would be my last will.

My friend I will assume you have intelligence:

You assembled this: But all I see is the crowd pounding the mouth of the miniature. .... Since Romans are for figures, what Tigers are to armor and Emils to Aircraft, where are the Roman fans to cheer this novelty?

from what I wrote. Right?

So, repeating a second time, a bit slower: If you want to quote me or anyone else don't assemble at your will (y)

I'll return just on Monday. So any posterior comeback to this topic will take days: Agenda first, social media, last. Sorry

Nuno, that's just the point isn't it.....freedom of speech here...which is simply what Steve is exercising here as a forum member.

You're not interested in freedom of speech here, only speech which conforms to your point of view.
Every member has the right to comment in any way they like ( that being positive or negative according to their opinion) on anything which has been put forward on the forum for comment.

Why this particular piece means so much to you for you to find offense at less than positive comment is a matter of mystery and confusion for me, but be assured if you find negative comment a difficult issue to deal with you should simply not bother beginning any thread which asks for opinion and comment.

Your words....."Let the talk begin! This one is going to vibe!"Well the talk did begin but the vibe wasn't all good,........so what, some like it others don't, why should anyone take offense at that?

Heck! Mark. This is the problem of screen communication. I complain about "a", someone else understands "b"

My complain: "don't twist statements" Final period! This is "a"

Everything else you say Mark I agree and I subscribe and I practice: every thing can be the subject of negative or positive criticism. This is "b".

So, first twisting my statements and then using that twist to shot this:

Third time: DON'T REPEAT!

In a cafe table things would be clear ... thought screens it's quite more difficult to make communication clear.

Nail on head Mark.

What you also seem to be forgetting Nuno, (and what Mark correctly points out) is that I am also a "forum member". Just like you. Just like everyone else on here. And for the vast majority of my time on here I have my "forum member" hat on, not my "moderator" hat.

As to my supposedly misquoting you and "assembling sentences at my will" as you put it, the rest of your post I quoted from was irrelevant to the point I was making, namely that you failed to acknowledge that people (myself included) were indeed praising the piece. Instead you chose only to carp about people "pounding the mouth of the miniature" and asking "where are the Roman fans to cheer this novelty" (just read back from the very first reply in the thread for the answer to that one). You said what you said, it's there for all to see on Page 2 of the thread. I don't need to "twist" anything.

And as to your observation that "Somehow I'm not the first to complain about your qualities that from time to time are far away moderation" … well I guess that's just like the real world isn't it Nuno: Some people like me, some people don't like me, most people probably have no strong feelings either way. So it's not something I'm going to lose any sleep over.

Like Mark, I'm also mystified as to why you seem to have such a peculiar personal attachment to this piece. Maybe you would like to share with us the reason for this?

Actually Del .... not a bad idea! After all, there were pF t-shirts doing the rounds 3 or 4 years back.

It could be the next big thing!!
