Brian :)

I'm the same Brian, and everyone of Carl's efforts are fantastic to look at, high quality finish and often very imaginative.

Superb(y)

Leather, wood and helmet are top, excellent result, about the face there is something that does not convince me, I believe you must work more on the face,
Christos.

That is shaping up nicely Carl.
Like the wood grain effect on the weapon butt, looks right in scale,
perhaps you could share the technique on that.

Ron

Carl, echo the others, beautiful and very convincing woodgrain and leathers.
The helmet is spot on.
Maybe the flesh need some beard to give the intense look of a cold tired face in RUSSIAN WINTER.;)(y)

Great painting on the helmet Carl, but like a few others I think the face needs a bit more work. I'd certainly suggest some blue/ purple washes and perhaps tone done the contrast on the cheeks. Having said that, I'm sure the finished result will be superb.

That wood really is something to behold. I am not sure of this stuff you speak of that you use. What is the (transp) part?

Thanks once again for calling in, I'm not sure as to what to do with the face. It might end up with a visit to the strippers. Ron the woodgrain recipe is on the first page.
Mike, I apologise for my abbreviation. Here's it's full title. Model Color - Transparent Woodgrain 828
I'll mke a decision on the face while I attack the Butler's Ranger.
Cheers,
Carl.(y)

Your weapon stock is excellent. I may have to try something similar!

Hi Matey,
I, like the others love your work so far on this,I think the face looks a wee bit dry and some lines are too defined,a glaze in oils to mute it down may help, also you can shade them while wet....
Top work on the helmet and the wooden stock...the nuts.
Best Regards
Paul

David Many thanks.(y)
Paul, how you doing?
Oils! I had breakdown doing the weathering on the battle bowler.:D
I'll give them a try, and then strip it.;)
Carl.

Hi Carl,
I'm not too bad matey, had a wee health scare last week that made us all sit up and take notice, now with an 8 week R/R ticket, with a strict/caring wife making sure I dont over do it,bless!
Hell mate I'd be tempted to save the best of it re paint the face if you dislike it that much, stripping only if the paint build will show if you did go for the repaint.
You decide matey....o_O
Best Regards
Paul

I've tried putting on a mid tone to ease the stark contrast between the cheeks and the highs. I still think it looks rubbish, so I think the stripper is calling.:cautious:
Carl.
