Greetings and best wishes to all in 2018.
I have spent the last year wandering from one figure to the next and I have finally managed to get a project completed and into the cabinet, this bust has popped up in the PF forums over the last few weeks and it seems to be a very popular piece.
Before I started on mine I looked at how other figure painters had painted theirs and there are many examples out there, I paint in oils over acrylics but use all sorts of combinations for washes, highlights and weathering, the bust itself required a fair bit of preparation and filling particularly with the headdress and face assembly but once primed it was nice to paint and the bust itself has a great pose and character face.
Pictures were taken with my phone so hopefully they will pick up some of the shading etc.

Well guys thanks to all for your kind comments and all I can say is that its down to the help and guidance and inspiration that I got from PF and looking at other members work that pushed me on to finish this, there is lots of room for improvement and that's what our wonderful hobby is about, gaining knowledge through practice and moving forward.
Next on the agenda is to go back and finish the other 3 Busts that I set aside when I started the Templar and then I might bit the bullet and go for a full figure, I have a 120mm Verlinden Anglian Warlord at Priming stage that I set aside about 20 years ago and it would be nice to complete that one.
Thanks again
TERRY

Very good painting, realistic finish on that shield and tanned flesh tones. Looks like Sean Connery to me !
