This is one of my new projects. Elliott " Lucky Shot" Manyard. A pirate from Scale 75
The bust is very well detailed and cast, it also comes with two heads one with a beard, one without.
It was a hard choice to decide which to use, but in the end I opted for the bearded version.

At present, I've just been working on the head, I'm thinking I may do a little more work on the flesh.

All painted in acrylics.

Hi Malc

Good choice of subject plenty to paint ,I like where the flesh is atm ,nice work on the eyes

If I may here’s 2 versions by different artists showing both heads available ....I would have gone for the beard as well !

Following with much interest whilst sitting on a bucketful of ships biscuits marinating in rum

Have fun young pirate me lad

Cheers Nap.
Please post the two versions you've mentioned, I'd love to see them.
Biscuit's and rum, .... hhhmmm, must try that next time I'm at sea. :D

Thanks, Nap. both are expertly painted, and you can see the hard choice in selecting the head.
I'm considering using the spare head and pushing some putty around.

Great start Malc, I really like the way you've handled the light hitting the face. Full of character as well.

Missed the start, the face looks pretty epic, lots of character brought out by some fancy painting, love the tonal variations.

Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon, The face was very enjoyable to paint, and as you say its full of character.

My apologies for not posting an update, life has been manic recently, and now for some reason I'm have some issues with my laptop.
So much for technology, it gets on my nerves.
Hopefully I'll be able to update once I can get the issue rectified.
If not the laptops going out the window, :arghh:

Issue sorted. :)

I've not had much time to paint, so very little progress has been made.
Before I cemented the head in position, I painted the inside of the collar.
Once the head was in place, a little filler was required to hide the join.
After the chest had been painted I moved on to the shirt, using a bleached linen shade.
I've made a start on the coat lapels, blocking it out in red, the rest of the coat will be painted in blue.

Question for you all.
With regard to the name, I've not come across the surname "Manyard" before, do you think it may be a spelling error and should be "Maynard" ?

Very nice Malc the shirt looks suitably unwashed, really love how you've done the bottle stuffed behind his belt. As for the name, got to be honest my personal auto correct kicked in and I've read it as Maynard since the start!

Cheers Simon

Cheers Simon.
I'm thinking Maynard makes more sense.
There is a story line on the box, although I've been unable to find out if this is a fictional or historical character.
