Completed "Look at our new Casques" , officer of La Reine and National guard, 1791

Hello folks, I completed my little vignette last night.
I am happy with the scene/result, while not perfect, I have put a lot of effort on it and I think for being my first vignette is not bad.
the scene portrays an officer of the regulars " Les Blancs" in white uniform, showing and commenting about the newly issued "casques" for the line infantry to a Paris National Guard officer. The casque became increasely unpopular towards the end of the of 1790's and fell in favor of the chapeau ( bicorne).
The base and scenery was provided by Birch three in NJ, special thanks to Don Johnson for recommending me to John, the owner ) , if anybody need the link or email just let me know, great guy and customer service.

Great little scene, very well done.

I used to enjoy wearing a casque in my re-enactment days, although the bearskin crest would end up badly singed by the igniting gunpowder from the pan of the guy next to me.

Here's a photo of me from Stephan Maughn's book 'Napoleon's Line Infantry Recreated in Colour Photographs'. Oh how I miss the smell of gunpowder in the morning!

It's fine to see somebody interesting in "Ancient Régime" as we name this period (from Henri IV to Louis XVI), hope you have the translation of this French writers:
Jean D'Aillon, very intresting description (and very easy to read) for Henri III to Louis XIII period.
Jean-François Parot, for the Louis XV and Louis XVI period.
There's a lot of interesting details of the life in France during this period.
Hope also you have the tranlated books available of, François BLUCHE, one of the best historian of the period.
Have a lokk on Amazon !!!!

Thanks my friend, believe it or not, the scene was simple till I received the package, then was the complicated part, paint the wood, paint the cobble stones and highlight them, many washes and little details before the completion of the scene.
All in all, I am happy with the result, I think I could have done a better job but my lack of experience in vignettes gave me a hard time to fully get the ideal scenic of this figures.
It looks great and I know I will get better and better with experience.
