Hello folks,
I've just finished this awesome figure sculpted by talented Diego Fernandez Fortes , the figure is from Art Girona.
I have converted some areas of the uniform to resemble this Chasseur Company .
The Cazadores Correntinos was a Company created in 1806 from the Militia's companies in the Viceroyalty of La Plata ( Modern day Argentina) a colony of Spain at that time , as a result of the first
British Invasion in 1806.
It fought bravely during the Second British Invasion of Buenos Ayres in 1087.
The company was dissolved in 1809 as a consequence for its support to dethrone Viceroi Santiago De Liniers, later that year their honor was restored by h the new Viceroi having their colors at the Fort of Buenos Ayres, but the scarce number of men were disperse and assigned to other companies or Regiments.
It must be noted that even thou this company was only 84 men, a large number of "Correntinos" ( province of Corrientes) were part of the Army of the Andes with General San Martin who was from Corrientes as well.
This is my little contribution to honor this brave men who fought gallantly on the wars against the British Invaders.
Cheers!

Great work Daniel,
I love seeing your work and learning about these little known (to me anyway :) ) Latin American subjects. (y)
There is a remote connection between Latin American subjects in the beginnining of the 19th century and the Greek subjects of the same era.The Latin A merican revolutionary movement and the Greek one were the only ones to have a successful conclusion among the many that were taking place at the time. Also after Waterloo a great number of French officers came down to the Balkans to serve in the armies of the Ottoman empire and the reformed armies of Mohamed Ali's Egypt (against the Greeks),with few exceptions most notable of which was colonel Fabvrier while at the same time a great number of the British Napoleonic veterans travelled to South America and enlisted in the armies of Bolivar and San Martin.

Oda.

And that old seadog Cochrane did both!

But this was a Spanish soldier in America, Virreinato del Río de la Plata.
They repelled British invasion attempts twice, in 1806 and 1807.
Daniel is making a great collection on this subject.
