I remember those from an old history book i red when i was a young boy.
Those are really good, but i think the salina's color plates shows great details as far as uniform painting guidelines.
Thanks for sharing! :)

Yes, Salina's colour plates are quite good and accurately based on these older drawings, but I prefer the original source. Some small details are lost in the process of drawing and interpreting the new illustrations, like hairstyles and buttons or sashes.
You are doing a very good job.

I agree with you 100%, it would be easier to look at a real uniform in a museum.
i think the hardest part for me in a conversion is to create the creases on the garments but it takes time and practice to master the technique.
thanks for your contribution .
best regards

More progress on this guy.
I finished the hat , changed the shape a little to resemble more lime the one on the color plate.
Repositioned the buttons and add the pins on its collar.
Worked on the legs that are partially done and stated to work on its boots, scary part is the creases and boots but learning a lot a out my sculpting abilities with this trooper, i still suck at sculpting stuff .
Cheers

I finished the boots and pants, added the arms i think it will ne the final pose and decided to primed the figure.
This time i happened to be cleaning my garage and found a can of testors grey primer.
It os a little ticker than the primer i normally use and it takes a longer time to dry up.
I am thinking of using vallejo Vermillion red as a base and red black for.the shadows.
As for the light i will use bright orange i think.
Regards

Update on this trooper.
The primer seems to by dry and decided to lay some paint
The hat is virtually done, painted the skull with citadel foundation charadon granite with a dab of flat black, that gives the casque a nice hardened painted leather tone, i took advantage of the leftover paint, added a dab of gunmetal grey and a tiny bit of vallejo metal medium to paint the frame around the skull, i did the crest using medium grey as a base, used some diluted black ink to detail some areas and spotted areas with straight from the bottle vallejo silver grey.
i painted the base of the skin with a mix of burnt umber and dab of black.

Hello planeteers,
I finished the hat , collar and almost done with the short jacket.
Reds are not my favorite color to paint so i experimented with few.
But more less the base color is a mix of vallejo vermilion and game color gory Red.
Lights:
Base plus citadel troll slayer and did some passes of citadel blood letter glaze .
Shadows,
I've used citadel carrobourg crimson shade.
Cheer

The base for the collar is vallejo pale grey /blue. For Shadows i've use the base color plus a dab of neutral grey.
Lights i've use the base cor plus pure white.
