With the creation of Ertzaintza in 1982 the 'Berrozis' became agents of it. But it was not until 1985 when it was decided to form an intervention unit within the Basque Autonomous Police. To do this, those escorts trained in the early 80s who had better qualities were selected. Being in 1987 when the intervention unit was declared operational. The work of 'escort' and intervention were separated. It should be noted that around 1993 they were named the Operational Intervention Group GOI. At the beginning of S.
