Here's a scratchbuilt Johnson LMG partially complete. It is truly multi-media. It needs some refinement, and I still need to make the magazine, and mag well.

Looking really good, amigo! Please tell me you're going to have this piece cast. I could use one.

Thanks all. I appreciate it. The weapon is built for 75mm figure, so 1/24 scale. I used rolled out putty and a template from a DML weapons box scaled to fit. I then used a homemade gouge to form many of the grooves. From there, it was shaping and carving, constsntly checking references. The vent is from a 1/35 scale machine gun detail set. It doesn't match exactly, but it looks convincing. The barrel is a brass rod chucked in a drill and taper with a file. The front sight  was not fun. It's a piece of foil cut butterfly style, attached with super glue. It wraps around the barrel. It was refined with some fine sand paper. I would like to have taken IP pictures of it, but I got in the zone and couldn't stop.

Leigh,

I'm making a 1st SSF trooper. I have a head sculpted. I took pictures, but they didn't turn out. I have yet to decide on the final pose. I know he will wear the anorak, so period will be late 43, or early 44 in the Italian mountains.

Thanks for all the compliments.

John, Very nice job on the weapon. They are not easy to do, and given the scale this one is in you're due to pat yourself on the back.~Gary (y)
