Hi Tony,

Wonderful work but I think you are working a lot of pieces in a flash. I get confused when working on many things at a time. I always concentrate on doing the face and then if the face is ready I will start the beard if the beard is ready I will start the gaments etc :)))

P.S. I rushed my pirate at the end and am working on the white T shirt and coat (rearrangment)

Regards,

Samwel Vella

Hi Tony,

Russel is looking good! I like the colours you have choosen, the contrast and details on the front armour plate look excellent!
Looking forward to see more!

Hi Vergilius, Northfield2008, Mark and Denes,

Thanks for your comments guys. Despte the change from my usual scale I'm really enjoying this 54mm figure. The sculpting is superb and the likeness to Russel Crowe is absolutely spot on. The eyes are struggling, but my magnifying glasses certainly help.

I've done most of the shading now and I'm starting on the highlighting tonight.

Cheers

Hi Guy,

Thanks mate.:) Here's the latest pics.

I've been trying to pick out the details with my 000 brush  and create some more contrast. I hope you like it, so far...

Any comments welcome.:)

Cheers

Hi Marc,

Thanks for your comments. I have to admit that 54mm is almost too small for me, but I am enjoying this one. I've probably spent 25 hours on him so far, and I expect to spent at least another 25 before he's finished. Most of the remaining time will be spent making the base and the groundwork.

The major difference between painting 54mm figures and large scale figures is that with 54mm you have to exagerate the contrast between highlights and shadows. In larger scales the contrast is less extreme and the variations between hghlights and shadows are more subtle.

Cheers

Nice work Tony

Hi Mate

Nice to see an Aussie paint such nice figures, very well done.

Tony, you are a very talent painter, I like your works and I think you must paint more 54mm figures. (You work very fast, in a month you can build a complete army :D )

Cheers,
Balázs

Hi Balazs,

Thanks for your kind words. I like doing the ocasional 54mm figure for a change, but my passion is large scale figures. I couldn't resist this one though. Fortunately, my "grey army" never seems to get any smaller, no matter how fast I paint or how many figures I build.

Cheers
