Maximus & Base
Hi guys,
First pics of the base.
I've chosen to depict a scene from the opening sequence of the movie "Gladiator", as General Maximus is surveying the battlefield, and stops to admire a small bird perched on the branch of a cut down tree. It's only a brief scene, but one that reveals Maximus's desire to go home and enjoy the simple pleasures of life, after so much death.
The bird is made from a small blob of blu-tack and shaped with a toothpick. I've glazed it with white glue so I can sculpt some fine details into the surface later. Lots of mud and snow to add, but it's coming along nicely. The black strip along the top of the base is masking tape to prevent the ground material from damaging the stained finish on the jarrah wood base.
