As these figures are very simular I choose to put them in the same thread.
These are also on commission for Tradition of London.

As can be seen in the pic, one of the sword hands are missing. I contacted the company and got a new one. All good I thought, but when test fitting I noticed that both hands where left hands!

Time for some surgery! I cut off the thumb and fingers, and added new ones.

I told ToL about it and they will do a new master, but that'll take a while I think so this have to do meanwhile! ;)

Cheers,

Håkan

The first figure now got his modified hand in place, and now I need to repeat it on the other figure.

Thanks Eduardo and Roger! :)

I agree, the sculpting could be more up to date, and better cast I think.
I'll bring it up with Magnus someday.

Cheers,

Håkan

Yes, you got a point there Roger. I think that those that buy these figures collect armies or stand alone figures, and don't have the time or skills to paint them.
Perhaps recreating battles on the table top. I guess that's why Tradition have a toy soldier range, with figures painted in gloss colors.

Håkan

I've done some more work and now both figures are getting ready for primer.

As Roger says, although these two figures are very static, the uniforms with cuirass, high boots and tricorns, are nice enough to get a good result. Often I paint this kind of figures, modestly modeled, and what I do is highlight the contrast between light and shadow to win more volume than the figure has.
In these cases, certainly, the practic of painting flats, is very useful.

Thanks for the advice Eduardo! :)

I'll try and do my best when painting them! :)

I've never tried painting flats, but I think it could be a good experience.

Håkan

My first (or second, counting the one I did on new years eve after a few drinks) attempt to paint the face.
Why is it so hard to paint faces, and especially the eyes?

It seems like when I get one good, the other one looks wierd.
But I guess, practice is the answer. Just so damn boring! ;)

I'll go on touching up the face, and try to correct the eyes.

Any advice or tip is welcome.

It's been a while since last update! :)

I'm a bit unsure of how to paint the breast plate in polished steel and gorget in silver so they look different. What colors to use and how to paint them?

Still not happy with the face. Looks too pale I think.

Cheers,

Håkan
