Hi, pF friends

Here's my latest one (Last one in this year), my son's TAMIYA RC Car "Grasshopper" driver. I painted it for my son, and just for fun. :)

Hi Kaz ,
Great paintjob , love the fleshwork ...nice collection as said in other posts ...

what's that book behind the busts ...looks like it could be useful ?

Nap

It really looks fantastic! Your son will absolutely love it !
By the way, I too was wondering about the book behind the busts...can you share the title with us? Thank you...

Thank you very much for the comments, Marco, Carl, Les, Ken, Maurizo, Kevin, Håkan, arxo!

arxo, good point! :) The Book's title is "Color Mixing Recipes FOR PORTRAITS" by William F. Powell. This is a great book for painting portraits, to check color combinations for skins, eyes, lips, and hair.

Great looking work on what would arguably be a "why bother?" type of subject.
Neat idea on using the book for paint mixes because that is exactly what I was going to ask Kaz what colours did you choose for the flesh on this guy?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Kaz, that's super cool. You definitely made a great work out of something really plain and simple. Thanks for the step by step!

Mike, Michael J, Stephen, Joe, thanks for your comments!

Kaz what colours did you choose for the flesh on this guy?
I used Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Naples Yellow Hue, Brown Madder, Skintone base, and Hookers Green.

In that book there's several recipes, such as caucasian, eurasian, asian, east indian, latino, native american...something like that. I'm referring to that book when I paint but not exactly the same recipes. I use it as a sample or guide.

Great work
I remember building my R/C Grasshopper when I was a kid. What a great way to add to your sons fun and also a great way to be a great dad.

Also what nice flesh tones you have done. Did you dullcote it a couple of times to protect it?

Nice one

Thanks Paul, no I haven't finished painting it and no protection.

Good for you, Michael! I really love this book when mix for skintone, eyes, and hair.
