Yup, cap badges are generally metal up to the rank of WO2. WO1 and officers would have a cloth cap badge. But as you can see in the pic, they have a certain "cushioned" appearance.

I'm still an airbrush noob Chris but spattering is usually down to either of 2 reasons (or both): 1. Air pressure is too low. 2. Paint is too thick. Also, just to be on the safe side, make sure your needle and nozzle are sparkly clean and undamaged.

It's sad to hear Ian has missed out on all the festivities but it's good to hear he's on the mend.

This one's pretty much done now, I maybe add a few small bits to the base but I'm still undecided. It's a nice figure to paint, highly recommended. Edit: added another photo :)

Nice choice of colours and I like how you've done the wave effect on the base. I'd maybe think about increasing the contrast a bit i.e. deeper shadows and lighter lights. For the waves I'd maybe think of incorporating a bit of white (or very light blue-green) on the wave tops and finishing off...

I've tried before, Steve (Valiant) bought all my Vallejo paint but there was no interest in the rest. I had a clear out about a month ago and ended up recycling a few hundred quid worth of oil paints.

It looks like a punch and die tool like the ones sold by RPtoolz Chris. They are pricey, but ideal for things like buttons, dials, bolt heads (they have a hex version), rivets etc.

He's coming along great Grant (y) Those yellows are really nice, what inks are you using? I also like all your beadwork but especially on the knee straps, they add some visual interest to what is essentially quite a large plain area of the figure. The bag strap also stands out for me :)
