Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Just so you all know I'm still alive, I thought I'd better post some seasonal greetings to one and all!! I've made absolutely no progress with the 'Slit Trench' dio, not because I'm a lazy ass (well, not totally anyway) but because my 'real' work has been keeping me unfairly busy and I've...

New Project Idea - At Last!!

Cheers you guys, its taken me a few weeks - since Euro in fact - to get some motivation but I'm firing on all cylinders now and I can 'see' this one clearly... Jon; I read this book many moons ago and completely forgot all about it! But I located it on the bookshelf last night and its gone into...

New Project Idea - At Last!!

I've been wracking my brain for a couple of months now, trying to get some idea of what I want to work on next and at last I've come up with something that feels... 'right'. Firstly, I've decided to shelve the 'Angel of Arnhem' project until I'm 100% happy with the composition of it - this is...

Latest Sculpt for El Greco: D-Day Commando!

No more secrets! My latest sculpt for El Greco is now ready, and is available at this years Euro Militaire Show in Folkstone (it will also be available from the El Greco website after the show). I put my heart and soul into this one; the bl**dy Bergen was a project in its own right!! As usual...

    Finished at last!!

I most certainly was but due to the shortage of decent blank ammo I had a bandolier full of second rate Egyptian .303 - pull the trigger, wait 5 minutes, bang! Then the bolt jammed solid so I thought it best to 'die' but didn't see the nettles 'till it was too late! Did you check out FJR6's...

Showered, bathed, showered again, counted the mozzie bites... :thumb:

    Finished at last!!

I have made a couple of forays into the forum but haven't posted anything new for ages! Hopefully should be carrying on with the 'Angel of Arnhem' piece sometime soon. ... I bet you missed me too though?! Matt

    Finished at last!!

Good news, my latest commercial sculpt is now finished and has gone off for casting, so keep your eyes peeled at Euro 2010!! This not only means that I can now give some attention to other sculpting projects but I can also indulge myself in my one of my other hobbies; living history. This week I...

    20ws18 radio and denison smock

Next up we have the second pattern Denison Smock. This smock would've been seen towards the end of the war in Europe, examples have been seen at Normandy but its very rare and there are many arguments concerning their use at Arnhem but photo's do exist, they would've been seen in greater numbers...

    20ws18 radio and denison smock

These are for Phil but I'll post them here for everyone's benefit. Feel free to PM or ask any questions. There's some of the two smock patterns and a couple of event pictures for dio reference... First up is the first pattern Denison Smock (this is the printed pattern variant, there is also an...

120MM Para Padre -Market Garden Phil Waldon

Hi Phil Got your message ok mate and will get some pics up asap. Do you have an email address or shall I post them here? If I'd known about the radio operator before the weekend I could've set some shots up for you but looks like Steve's saved the day!! When you say NCO cameraman, do...

120MM Para Padre -Market Garden Phil Waldon

Phil I'll try to get some pics sorted out for this weekend if I can, I don't have any picture references showing the removal of the tail its just what I've heard from Vets I've met over the years. However, if your chap is wearing a second pattern Denison then it would have two press studs at...

120MM Para Padre -Market Garden Phil Waldon

Hi Phil Steve is quite right with his observations of the smock's tail piece. This appears to be a first pattern Denison smock (distinguishable by the woolen cuffs) and as such would not have had press studs on the back for holding the tail up - the tail would've hung down and went some way...

    Head Sculpt Casting Solution?

Hi all, a few weeks ago I asked for some head sculpting advice on the Planetfigure forum, many of you were extremely forthcoming with help and I'd like to show you how I progressed. As some of you will know I'm currently working on a commercial project - details of which I can't divulge at the...

    Ground to a Halt!

Gary, what I'm worried about is that base looks too much like a free standing, exterior building and doesn't 'capture' a cellar which is what I wanted. I was looking through my sketch book the other night and came across a very early sketch which just had a single back wall with the steps...
