Here, here! Right you are Petey...we have to be willing to check ego's, too if in fact what we want to do is grow as an artist and as a community...The only way to grow is to learn is through feedback that enables us to improve. Sometimes harsh and sometimes packaged very well. In any event...

Good point Petey...think that we all could use some constructive criticism if we are to grow as an artist and as a community. What do you think my brothers, Petey, Lou and Larry..? Patrick

    Finished Vikings

Brandy, Nice work...if I could, may I suggest once you have finshed the highlighting and shading that you apply a thin glaze of the base color to blend the highlights and shading together so they arent as stark. The green on the first figger is nicely done and a very tough color to pull off...

    order in painting faces

Good luck, Keith...they key I have found is to remember it's a glaze. Thin is good. You can always go over the highlight a couple times to get the effect you want rather than globbing it on... Hope all is well Patrick

    order in painting faces

Here is my technique; I paint on an acrylic undercoat first. Let that dry and hit it with a hairdryer to help speed up the process. Then I paint an overall oil base color, followed by highlights, shadows, deep shadows. Once I have the contrast between highlights and shadows, I then go back in...

    Red Baron

Mark, Very nice indeeed. Are you an acrylic or oils painter? Your composition and use of lighting compliments this figger nicely. I really like the wing in the background, it gives a very dramatic feel to the piece. How did you scratch build it? Look forward to seeing more of your work. All...

    Warriors Update

Look, my point is simple, we have introduced many units from the reserves and national guard to the fight. And, not every unit is modernized with the latest generation of weapon systems at the same time. Also you need to consider the fact that weapons malfunction in combat, they need repairing...

    Warriors Update

Charlie, Are you sure about the M249 stock? Not every unit was modernized with the new weapon prior to deployment...It's not too much of a stretch that the older weapon would be used in the early phases of the operation. All the best Patrick

    Roman Cavalry figure

Craig, Excellent description my friend...I would have never guess that Brown Madder Alizerin would give the "cool" effect like that WOW! I'll have to give that a go on the Roman Centurian I am working on; thanks for the tip! I agree, the offwhite compliments the greens very nicely! All the...

    Some news items:

Gordy, You and your staff ROCK! You continually say that the success of the planet is its members, I for one believe the real root of success for the planet is everything you, Guy, Anders and Roc do behind the scenes. You deserve a lot more credit than you are taking Gordy. I can't tell you...
