    the chavalier

Remarkable suface detail. Some observations: The linen collar should be round, close higher up the neck under the head and drape differently over the cuirass. you should not be able to see the neck protuding like that; The cuirass should be rounder and bulkier. It appears too flat; the head...

    Identity on PF

Well, well well ......... look who's here. So to continue our conversation from the other thread: let me see if I have the full picture. The idea is to go to Greece; dress up in national garb comme Byron; hypnotise some local beauties; douse yourself in Ouzo; stuff the space left with...

    WIP Romeo 90 mm Provocator

Hello, Some pics of my progress on Romeo Models 90 mm gladiator Provocator. Sergey Popovichenko's version inspired me to do this one. I love his muted realistic painting style. I hope my efforts to make the metal look corroded is going to pay off. For reality's sake (well ...... that is...

how may w.i.p. figures on bench at one time ?

I paint in oils and I only have 1 figure at the bench at any one time. Since I mainly use Old Holland paint, add quick drying mediums to for example printers inks and dry parts under an Ikea lamp with a 100 w bulb I have reduced drying time to almost nothing. An new figure comes on the...

    Pegaso 75 mm Decurio Equitum

Good idea. I met Junckelman in Utrecht in the '80 's. At that time he (together with some colleagues) was travelling up the former Limes (hence the visit to Utrecht) dressed and equiped as Auxilia cavalrymen on small furry horses (almost the size of ponies). A very knowledgeable experimental...

@Giorgo: thank you! An interesting point of view. I tend to agree.

    Pegaso 75 mm Decurio Equitum

Since when is Francis Pryor an expert on the Roman military? He seems to know more about prehistoric landscapes in general and fens in particular. And why on earth would you ever have wanted to tear the ideas of a historian like Conolly apart? Doesn't sound very nice does it? But you did not...

    Pegaso 75 mm Decurio Equitum

Yes we know that by now. But what does Junckelman say about the subject? You might find the following titles informative on the subject: Die Reiter Roms. Teil 1, Reise, Jagd, Triumph und Circusrennen, von Zabern, Mainz 1990; Die Reiter Roms. Teil 2, Der militärische Einsatz, von Zabern...

    Pegaso 75 mm Decurio Equitum

About the shield: maybe. I don't think a large curved shield is pratical when sitting on a horse. Even the shield supplied in the kit is too large. Does Junckelman have something to say about this subject?

    Katô Yoshiaki

I like that very much. His headdress is very interesting. A bit outlandish so to speak. (y)
