Hello fellow planeteers,
Fresh from my workbench is this bust by Augie Rodriguez of Katô Yoshiaki, one of the so-called Seven Spears of Shizugatake, at the battle of Sekigahara 1600. Sculpted by Augie it was originally produced by Fort Duquesne in 2002 and recently in 2012 by SK Miniatures. Painted in oils as usual. Please enjoy and don't spare your critic!
Pierre

His headdress is very interesting. A bit outlandish so to speak. (y)

His helmet which survives is a kawari -kabuto in the fuji-no- tani style i.e. representing Mount Fuji, although one might think it looks like a squid! Some of the daimyo developed rather strange vestimentary tastes adapting or copying Western Portuguese or Dutch influence in their traditional garments and that's what I have tried to portray by my choice of colours. The result is a bit garish I must admit!
cheers,
Pierre
