    Acrylics - highlight/shadow - which first

To be honest? This comes from experience painting. I basically know how to thin the paints (depends on the manufacture) based off my experience using them over and over. If I am painting and find the transitions to be too harsh, I can either thin the paint down and reapply the color in question...

    Acrylics - highlight/shadow - which first

Ultimately, the decision is yours. We all have are own "perks" or ways of doing things. Me? I paint a highlight, then a shadow and keep repeating this until the item in question is finished. I like to "see" the figure coming to life. Just my way.... Jim Patrick

Are you talking about the OLD video from Andrea? If so, I saw it on youtube once. Broken down into different parts. Just type Andrea painting with acrylics. Or something to that effect. Jim Patrick

    andrea paint sets

Einion my friend? There is simply no way you can EVER prove this to be true or false. You cannot make a statement such as “this ALWAYS works or this NEVER works”. Look down through the ages at the great artists and one thing they always had in common was that their style flew in the face of...

    andrea paint sets

I say buy the sets. I find them to be VERY nice and extremely helpful to, not just for the beginner, but to moderate level and advanced painters as well. Yes, they are a little more expensive than buying the colors by themselves. But consider this. The colors offered in the paint sets are not...

Taking Photos of Your Miniatures (Links)

Most of these have already been posted here before. I just thought it might be worth while (mostly for me) to post them again here. I have been working hard to improive my photography of my figures. Since this is something most of us struggle with, I thought maybe this is something the rest of...

    American flag patch

Yes, it is a modern era regulation. I can't speak for other countries but I can speak for the U.S. ANYTIME you see an American Flag displayed on a uniform, vehicle or aircraft, the field of blue should be facing the direction of travel. Jim Patrick

    American flag patch

You would be absolutely correct Ron. Even, at times, you will find the U.S. Military makes this mistake. But at least you know and you will get it right :thumb:. BTW- Andy Myers at SecOps models gets this correct. Jim Patrick

    American flag patch

Your friend is 100% correct. By Federal regulations, the American flag, when displayed on a uniform or vehicle, will face the forward direction of travel. The flag MUST be displayed as if the field of blue were moving forward. Hope this helps. Jim Patrick

    Painted stripes or photo-etched?

What type of stripes are you refering to? Rank stripes? If yes, then consider one of the two following: 1- Make the stripes from lead foil (thin) or roll out some putty. You should have no problem getting either one of these to conform to the figure. 2- MOST IMPORTANTLY, I'm not so sure any...
