Colour artwork Confederate Officer , ACW Stormtroopers Direct

No worries Phil! He could be painted as any. The shell jacket was exactly the same (as I understand it) for any, just the different colour facings, red, yellow or blue denoted which element of the Confederacy the belonged to. The Confederate officers always had a dandy appearance to them. More...

Hi Phil, The blue facings were worn by Confederate Infantry officers. The yellow were Cavalry officers and red were Artillery officers. Carl

    75mm Sioux by Frank-Miniatures

Hi Martin, The video you posted is a dancer. The feather arrangement on his back are called a bustle! They often wore 2 one on the shoulders and one on the ass. The other you show probably are comanche. But they did wear full feather, horned and split horned bonnets into battle. The horned...

    75mm Sioux by Frank-Miniatures

Hi Kevin, The feathers were held in position with a thin twine. The twine was fed btween each feather, so they all moved in unison. Although this shows a full fwther bonnet, the principle remains. I hope this helps explain. Carl

    LOSS OF A MEMBER

This thread was brought to my attention earlier, and reading I feel compelled to respond. First I want to thank Wayne. Secondly, David is taking way too much credit for my decision. Here's why. I didn't sculpt the hussar. I have no vested interest, except its sculpted by a friend amd...

Preview: Stormtrooper, 1:9th Kings German Legion bust

Thanks guys for all your kind words. As I've just posted on the bottom of Gra's French Hussar Preview. I won't be participating on PF anymore. But thanks for all your support and friendship. I'll still be sculpting as usual, but my clients want to post previews, they'll have to do...

    Hussar preview

I think you're missing the point Colin. My guess is. The alternative parts with piece is minimise the damage this thread has created! I find it difficult to make the distinction between this form of critique and the personal attack of the anatomy of a sculpt. It looks the same to me. The fact...

The point is Gaudin that anatomy is often overlooked and rarely criticised in favour of the buttons and bows being present and correct. If folks are looking for an excuse not to buy, then scroll past and buy something else. It really is that simple. If its a case of wanting to share knowledge...

I uderstand your stance David, and while I don't necessarily agree I do understand it! With regards to the cross referencing your libary, the point is one book may contradict another. Which is correct? At the point it was penned both authors considered their correct. In truth both may have...

Preview: Stormtrooper, 1:9th Kings German Legion bust

Hi Guys, Here is a piece I have just completed for Stu and Stormtrooper Miniatures. As you can see it depicts a Sergeant of the Kings German Legion at Waterloo. I'm not sure of the release date, but I'm pretty sure Stu will post all the relative details when ready. As always I hope you...

    Hussar preview

I haven't made any assumptions David, let alone big ones! You have an extensive library David! But have you cross referenced them all? How many contradict each? I would assume a few, if not quite a few! I was merely saying that it is quite plausible that a man in field could wear 3 layers. I...

I totally agree Richie! It seems so many have a limited source of reference and take it as gospel. Unfortunately then fighting lived in a hole in the ground for the most part, they picked up, used and carried anything found to be useful. Human beings are resourceful when pushed. Now I don't...
