    An interesting resource

Bummer,,,, wish I would have looked for this before I did the Lincoln sculpt. So far they have two of his life casts at very reasonable prices.

    An interesting resource

Just on a whim I ran a search on the keywords 'life cast maks' on ebay and it turned up some pretty amazing stuff. Here is the link http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=life+cast&_sop=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC1.A0.H0.Xlife+cast+mask&_nkw=life+cast+mask&_sacat=0...

Not to worry Billy, old age has taken me too :) I didn't even notice you were addressing Ethan:eek:

    WIP Greek Pair fighting

I'd have to go with Colin if he means the figure on the right hand side of the Giant in the pic and not his right. I also think the waist, ankle, wrist and neck should be a little thicker; especially the waist. If you are going to stylize either figures I would avoid the body builder...

I can't wait to see your prints and learn where you had them printed.

    Time lapse Digital sculpt.

Mark, that was just amazing. The more I see Zbrush the more I realize I really need to save up for this tool. It looks like he laid textures down on his sculpt and was able to sculpt in the detail from the texture; that's something you cannot do on any of my free tools. In addition he was...

    1st Casting

I got far enough along on the painting to assemble the parts. I took this shot to study my progress. I think I'm gona need to change the background so I can get a better idea of the colors.

    1st Casting

Jason, there are kits available on my site for 45 bucks, but they need some cleaning and mounting. I am not including either of those things so the kit really isn't the quality you would get from a regular vendor. Colin, I'm working on a painted one now. Thanks Ethan.

    1st Casting

1:6 scale Lincoln kit. These are castings from molds I made from a 3D prototype printed at Shapeways. The clean up was fairly easy as this is one of th 5 prints that came pretty much clean from them. I addeds some skin texture and cleaned up a few layer lines on the suit and the castigns came...

    Home Run for Shapeways

Hey, I know folks that print out train parts for prototype and make castings so printing out parts for square riggers sould be just fine.

excellent start. Question, when you say 1:8= 6 feet does that mean the figure is 8 inches tall? In model railroading 1:8 means 1 inch = 8 inches so a 6 foot figure would equal 9 inches.

    Home Run for Shapeways

3 things I like about the peachy,,,, no extruders, water supports it and water makes it self leveling. If I remember the specs right it should also be easy to convert to wireless. Since it uses sound frequencies to transmit model detail to the printer a set of wireless speakers can probably set...

    Home Run for Shapeways

Thanks Ethan, it is 1:6th and the noise trick is just what makes this print work. That is one of the reason that this sculpt had to be printed in two separate runs. Both runs max out on the polygon count. One other thing is the more detail you have on the flat plane the better the print too. The...

Thisi s the only cheap shot I saw and was addressing. The rest looked fair to me accept for the instances when the discussion started to deteriorate after the above remark. And Gra30 I have always valued your assessments of my work, they have been very helpful. But having been the object of this...

    Z Brush zombie

I like and hate this thread. I like the quality of the zombie print; outstanding and I'm thankful that zodiac showed it with us this regardless of who sculpted it. I like that Colin said he respected digital sculptors and I appreciate that he cannot change. I like that Alex agreed that the...

    Z Brush zombie

BTW,,, Zodiac I am a digital man myself. It solves a lot of issues for me, my poor and declining eye sight, and my lack of space to store materials and projects. I also find it to be more challenging than clay or polymers. I've never worked in marble, but I have with wood. Wood is unforgiving...

    Z Brush zombie

Good point Diegoff. I have to agree with you on that, but point out, that with each mold I make from a print I get a little bit better at finding the layers and dealing with them. I've never reached the level of expertize with clay to completely remove the tool marks that I made while sculpting...

    Z Brush zombie

Colin, I can't speak for Zodiac, but I find your attitude refreshing. I don't believe that the creation of one new medium is necessarily the death of another. I still work in wood from time to time (although it has been 2 years since I've worked in wood as I am studying 3D intensely). I still...
