    200mm bust.

That is pure mad skill. The head looked like a Nazi in the first few pictures... how it goes from that to a dead on likeness of Achilles is beyond me. Great work, and remember to finish up Aragorn too... all your sculpts are perfect.

    Hockey Sculpts

All this is really neat , I love the helmet. For goal mesh maybe you could try using this nylon sort of material. I'm not sure what it's called but you find it lining baskets or gift bags or occasionally in floral displays. If anybody knows what I'm talking about please try to explain it better...

    Aragorn

You're a beast! That's one of the greatest pieces I've seen, I just feel like giving up now. Awesome work, dead on likeness of one of the coolest movie characters.

If three's not enough... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Up it to four! (Oops, i woulda gave an extra, but I guess that doesn't work. How anti-climactic.) Amazing work. Seriously, you can't expect to get any criticism, so do you post it just to make us feel bad...

    Jan Zumbach

Really good job. The neck looks a bit long, but maybe that's just me. Other than that minor detail everything looks great!

    54mm fire fighter

Really good job, it definitely looks like John Travolta. Sweet work!

    Most difficult color.

Black, definitely black. Either it looks like a solid undercoat or it's striped, I can never get it right...

    Aragorn at Helm's Deep

There was a post in the sculpting forum about making chainmail, you might want to check that out. The method I use is to take a fine sewing needle and sand down the eye so it is really small and round. I use Green Stuff for chainmail. Simply go up and down with the eye of the needle alternating...

    Aragorn at Helm's Deep

Umm... it looks like I screwed up the pictures, is there any way I can edit a topic post? *Edit* Ahh, maybe I should figure it out before I ask for help lol.

    Aragorn at Helm's Deep

Alrighty, here's another figure, I started it just after the MMSI show with all the renewed sculpting enthusiasm, then set it aside for a few months. I think it's about time to pick it back up again :) I have his sword blade made in aluminum, you can't imagine how many tries it took to get the...

    Legolas, 1:30 Scratchbuild

Thanks a lot guys. @ John- Recently I've taken profile shots of friends to model heads on, I'm doing a few 1" busts from Super Sculpey to try to get the features right. Also in a few weeks I'm going to be taking a portrait sketching class at the Art Institute of Chicago, so hopefully that'll...

    Legolas, 1:30 Scratchbuild

Hi guys! I'm pretty much new to the forum, I just turned 16. I love scratchbuilding figures, Lord of the Rings and making movies. If anybody here went to the MMSI show I'm a member there and I did the Fellowship of the Ring shadowbox. I'll try to post some of my other work when I get the photos...

    First sculpting effort in progress

Wow, that is sooo cool. I love the expression, it looks inteligent but still beastly :) I'm glad you stuck with the two eyes, I think it works out a lot better. As for the toungue... I probably wouldn't make it too prominent but it's your sculpt. The eyes turned out rel well, they're hard to...

    ORK! Its finally finished :)))))

Really good job, nice detail. I like the torn cloak effect. My advice would be to mix in a little Aves Apoxie Sculpt to your green putty, it will make clothing like the cloak harder and thinner. Also, you can sand the mixture. Great job!

    First sculpting effort in progress

The texture is really nice. For aliens, maybe a split jaw like the Elites in Halo? When I looked at it an Elite came to mind, I don't know why. Looking good, it'll be nice to see it done.

    Heads for 54mm

Halo 2... I spend more time looking around the levels looking for interesting uniform details and objects than actually killing aliens... When I started heads they had a lot of "issues." My advice is to take profile photos of friends, and draw nice geometric shapes to get the alignment of all...

    Sculpting/Casting Tips?

I'd do it in a few pieces, you might also find this a good choice if you need a few extra pieces for conversions etc. Also, do you have a pressure pot available or any casting equipment?

    Sylmasta A+B, any good?

I'm not sure about suppliers, I always bought it at the MMSI show from a vendor. I think you can buy it from their site if you search around a bit on the internet, or there's always tons of mail order companies. Seriously it's worth checking out.

    Sylmasta A+B, any good?

I prever Aves Apoxie Sculpt over other compounds. I used to use Magic Sculpt but my hands are really dry and crappy. The Magic formed this oily coating that stung really bad, the container dried out fast as well even though I keep the top on etc. I know a lot of guys who switched over to Aves...
