    WW2 uniform questions...

Thanks for the comments guys. I am kind of stuck on what I should use for shading and the highlight. I currently use Vallejo English Uniform and was thinking that Chocolate Brown might be good for deep shadow, but not sure about the highlight. Anyone have any suggestions :) Doug

    WW2 uniform questions...

Hey all, Been a while since I've posted anything on PF, but real life such as a new addition to the family has taken up much of my time, a new addition at the age of 10.5 months... :) However, I have been slowly collecting a few figures to paint for a diorama in 1/48 scale of Canadians in...

    Ninja again.....

    >but I was wondering if the sword was supposed to be black? I would have expected it to be highly polished steel (or is that too Hollywood??).< Well, the ninja-to, or the sword, was never a high quality weapon. It was an extension of the ninja's arm for the different techniques that were...

    Ninja again.....

Nicely done, I like how the red is done on it. The face looks fine to me. :D As a practitioner of the art itself, black is like what Gummisheep stated...just a Hollywood thing. Everything else that Gummisheep has stated is pretty much true to the point.

    Palette

I was just wondering from others on what type of surface you use to mix your paints. I have a plastic palette and the oils don't really mix all that well in it. It seems as though that the oils just slide around when trying to mix them. They are W&N oils. So, what type of palette is better...

New to miniatures - What you need :

I have a #4 and 10/0 brush that are 'shader' type, but are flat brushes. I was wondering of the listed sizes which ones are rounds. Also, and sorry for being naive, but would it be prudent to have a couple of each?

    Armour

I was wondering how you professionals :D paint armour on the figures. The Praetorian guard that I have from Andrea Miniatures has a breastplate, helm and a shield. I figured that the shield I would paint in red, but not sure as to the armour. Note-I'm used to using acrylic gaming paints...

    Andrea Miniatures Paint Set

I was browsing the Andrea Miniatures site and came across their Paint Set which includes 12 paints, miniature w/ base, brushes and a step by step how too book. I was wondering from others on this forum if this would be a wise investment for a beginner such as myself. Here is the link...

    Flesh colors...couple of questions.

Greetings to all, I'm new to this site but not new to the modeling side of things. I've mainly built WWII armour and planes as well as WWII gaming. Painting the flesh on them is quite simple...however, I have just received my first 54mm model of a Roman Praetorian guard and am looking at...
