Nice figure, I really like it in red. I Also like the skincolour, what did you use for the ethnic skintone?
But I have to wonder if its acceptable? Although its not my period Ive only seen them in black. (Thank you Hollywood.) :D

Cheers

Well i read somwhere on the internet, that Ninjas used red,and even white, and sometimes black isn't was black....it was dark brown or purple,or dark blue, dark grey...."the real black thing" comes from Hollywood....
They used red,or dark colors, because its harder to detect blood,on it....and thats why Ninjas have this nearly immortal image.
White was good in the snow......some historical books telling about assasination in the cold winter,by ninjas in white...
The face was done:
Basecolor:Brown Sand
Highlights:Basic Skintone+Brown Sand
Second High:Basic Skin+Light Flesh+Brown Sand
Third High:poor Light Flesh
Shadow:cavalary Brown
Second Shadow:Cavalary Brown+Black Grey

I hope im not wrong with the colors, however i will check it tomorrow again, i wrote it down somewhere...
But now im to tired.....so i go to sleep.:)

Nicely done, I like how the red is done on it. The face looks fine to me. :D
As a practitioner of the art itself, black is like what Gummisheep stated...just a Hollywood thing. Everything else that Gummisheep has stated is pretty much true to the point.

Hi Roland,

Well done mate. The reds and the skintones are beautifully painted, but I was wondering if the sword was supposed to be black? I would have expected it to be highly polished steel (or is that too Hollywood??).

Cheers

Well, the ninja-to, or the sword, was never a high quality weapon. It was an extension of the ninja's arm for the different techniques that were used. It could be made sharp to cut a person, but not armour. Nor was it strong enough to go up against the katana blade of the samurai as it would be severely damaged or destroyed. Some were made to bring fear to the opponent when the ninja-to could be literally bent in half. As for being polished...I don't think they would have been as the reflection of light off of it would give away their position, so they would have found a way to dull that reflection.

Another note- only movies that I have seen that show almost true ninja tactics were in Shogun, The Hunted and The Last Samurai.

Thanks for thr nice comments guys.
Well the sword and the gear is not ready,i will give a little metallic effect to the sword, but not to much...
I used the following colors for the red effect.
Base:Vermillon red+Magenta+Black Grey(Just a touch)
I put every time some"Baby powder" to the colors,so i can avoid shining......

Great work,Roland.
Red is the new black.I love that colour on this
Ninja and the way you've applied it.Well done.

Roland,

This figure never really appealed to me but the red color was a great idea. You did a beautiful job with him. I may have to by one of these for myself after all.
